CGA Waitlist

If t
Our son received an email that waitlist is closed and they don’t expect any further appointments. They have offered and he has accepted to be on another list in the event a vacancy opens up that he would know by 6/22/2020. They are also encouraging early action for 2025. Obviously very disappointing but our son is willing to hold on to the last chance of any possible through 6/22/2020.
I thought college reapplicants cannot apply during early action? Is that different if one was on the waitlist vs sent a TWE?

My son was not offered the June 22 opportunity. Probably will apply for 2025 class with the early application process. Best of luck to all.

My DD did receive the e-mail, and was offered a place on the additional waitlist (til June 22). Though disappointed in not receiving an appointment, still hopeful of a chance between now and June 22... if not by then, determined to apply for class of 2025. Proud of her handling ALL the waiting, and determination and grit! As she shared with me something she thought about on her way home from work (after getting the latest update)... HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?

What is the difference in the June 22 waitlist? Are they simply narrowing down the original waitlist?

It seems so. It is a little different from the original waitlist because, at this point, the class is "set"
As far as I know, it looks like very few (if any) were actually offered appointments for the waitlist and the class size (based on the Facebook page) is a bit smaller than originally anticipated (maybe because of covid and reducing risks?) so they want some people ready to go to fill the spots.
This is all speculation of course, and who knows what went into selecting who to keep on retainer (could've been by major, medical status, academics, essays, athletics, basically anything or any combination of things)

Yes, they say that in the email since they have been on the wait list, they encourage them to do early action!

Are others who were waitlisted able to view their application for 2024?

Also, if anyone knows... is the opportunity to reapply EA open to all reapplicants or only waitlisted?

Thank you all for your support and all the help, my DD was heartbroken but she will pick herself up and try again :)
Hugs to all the family. Glad your DD will try again. My DD didn't get accepted to AIM, didn't get accepted to the C/O 2023, and wasn't even waitlisted. We were feeling no positive vibes whatsoever. Nonetheless, she tried again, and succeeded. Don't give up the ship cutter!

That is so encouraging to hear! Thank you!

I believe the EA option for reapplication is only being offered to individuals who were waitlisted. Previously, anyone who would be reapplying to CGA would be pushed back to Regular Admission.

Additionally, the confirmed class size for 2024 is 265. Of the 265 appointments, no one was picked up from the waitlist.

Also, when I try to access my application, it displays a window stating that the system is undergoing maintenance.

Application for the Class of 2025 will be opening 2 weeks early, on July 15th

Hi! DS would like to reapply. What is the situation with the application process? Are they able to use information/references from the previous application? My son will be attending his Plan B and will NOT be able to ask for references and such. TY

Anyone from this waitlist thread reapplying? This has certainly been an unexpected college year for incoming freshman!

After giving it a tremendous amount of thought since landing on the USCGA waitlist earlier this year, DS decided that although the Coast Guard is a fantastic organization with lots of opportunities, he ultimately wants to be a Naval officer. He is currently in his freshman year as an NROTC midshipman and is reapplying to USNA.

Good luck to all of the USCGA reapplicants from the Class of 2024 waitlist!

My DS was waitlisted at USCGA and accepted at USNA! He's loving it! Things happen for a reason!
