Dear anom, thank you for your wise advice. I reached out to the forum yesterday because I read in years past that waitlisted candidates were contacted on May 4th to confirm whether or not they wanted to remain on the waitlist or if they have decided to proceed to their plan B. My DS was at school and had JROTC until 6pm so I was curious if anyone had any news or updates. I assure you that I am enjoying my life and I don’t consider asking a question on the forum to be frantically worrying. If I have caused anyone any discomforT, I offer my deepest apologies. And yes I am a first timer😊, my DS is also my only child. Again, my apologies if I did something wrong here. Wishing all of your DS and DD the best of luck. 🤞🏻

Please don't apologize. This forum is designed to help us. Yet some people like to inject their so called "wisdom". I have read some great information on this site and then some people that just want to hear themselves. Keep asking questions, we're all in this together! We have a DD on the waitlist for the Academy and it's definitely an extremely stressful time. I wish you and your DS all the luck in the world.

I completely apologize. I meant if DS is a first-time applicant. When I applied last year, I was constantly checking a portal, and worrying about the academy all the time. As a second-time applicant I forget about it now, and realize its not worth my time to worry about it. I know much more about the USNA process, and usually wait listers get notified the week of April 15th, so I thought you meant has anyone come off the WL. My apologizes. You seem like a great parent, and I apologize for the misunderstanding. I was just trying to encourage your DS to enjoy the last little bit of senior year.

Dear anom, thank you so much for your reply. I was sickened when I read your response to my first post. I thought I made a mistake on the forum and felt regretful for reaching out. My DS doesn’t know about the forum communication because I didn’t want him to feel pressured but I also needed a safe place to get any information I could gather on my own. I try not to ask him daily if he’s heard anything because I do want him to enjoy the last bit of his high school experience. I appreciate you clarifying your intended message, you have lifted my spirit. I wish for you all that you deserve, your hard work and determination to commit yourself to serving our country is truly commendable and will be rewarded. I have been here for quite a while, and being so experienced in this type of application, I like to offer my help whenever possible. Applying to any SA isn't easy, and being accepted is so much harder. I know what it is like to wait, and I intended to offer some wisdom in the art of waiting. Over these last two application cycles, I will have waited for good news for over a year. Looking back on the comment I made, I understand how it looks, and I realize there is no other way to look at that comment. I should have worded it better, and I take accountability. The last thing I need to do is scare away a parent looking to help their child, especially in the brutal process of a SA application. I read your original comment and answered quickly with the mindset of preventing someone from making my mistake (checking application every 10 seconds). I also should have kept my mouth shut as I am much less knowledgeable in CGA than USNA and thought WL's knew mid-April. If your DS does not get a head-nod and is looking to reapply for the second time, I would love to answer any questions, about anything. I know CGA does not require a nomination, but if he reapplies to another SA that requires them, I am willing to answer any questions. I do not like throwing this number around because I know how it sounds, but I received 5 nominations. (3x MOC, ROTC, and PRES) I have extensive experience in this department, and if ANYBODY has questions, PM me and I will answer them. Goes to show, having that number of nominations does not matter if you are not slated first in any of them.

The great people of this forum have answered my numerous questions (many of them being dumb), it is time I pay it forward, and help people through this process.

Thank you everyone for putting me in my place, I clearly needed that. This is an opportunity to learn, and I will take advantage of it. That being said to everyone reading this, use me as an example of what not to do. Think before you speak and think again before you send.

My son is on the WL and his waiver is in review status and has been for months. No AIM requested. Does your response mean May 15 deadline for waiver approval is not hard and fast for WL candidates? If he does not receive the waiver by May 15 will he still be considered as a WL candidate? Thank you.

anom, you just did something we see so little of in society today. You made a mistake and you admitted it. Bravo to you. As you all have stated, this is a very long, stressful process. You all deserve credit for just going through it. Furmama, keep asking away....

I check this forum few times a week... i also asked my son everyday if he receives a call :) All good, we are nervous parents, but whatever happen will happen for a reason. Best of luck all :)

He is. I agree, from what I’ve read there has at least been a follow up email at this point. It really makes me think the CGAS has filled their spots. After all, It’s been a “record year” for applications. DS is pretty motivated with his plan B.

My DS hasn’t received any follow up emails at all. I thought that, according to the forum in years past that they would have gotten a email to see if they were still wanting to remain on the waitlist but my son hasn’t received anything. I agree it’s been a tough year for applicants. I wish your DS all the best!
