Sorry for another "one of those posts" on this forum..
I was just wondering my true chances of admissions going into the Winter-time and knowing the LOAs are going around.

I have a 3.7 Unweighted GPA and a 4.25 Weighted GPA
Ranked 42 out of 423
Florida Boys State Delegate
ACT Composite: 27, Math: 28, English 29
Over 200 Community Service hours
Sports: 4 years Football (captain senior year), Varsity Baseball (2 years), Varsity Weightlifting (1 year), Varsity Track and Field (2 years)
Clubs: Anatomy and Physics Club, Student Government Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Parliamentarian of TPUSA
CFA: 1 mile-7:25, Pull ups-7, Push Ups-56, Sit ups-67, Shuttle-8.1, BB throw-80ft

I have 4 nomination interviews and I live in Florida, so anything helps!

Looks competitive to me. Have you taken AP/IB/Honors classes? How many times have you taken the ACT? I would retake it if possible. It would be great if you could get your scores up another point or two. Are you interested in playing a sport at USMMA? If so, I would reach out to the appropriate coach. Have you passed DoDMERB yet? How can you get 4 nomination interviews from one Congressman and two Senators? Prepare well for your interviews so you can be sure to secure a nomination. So while I say you are competitive, you are up against a lot of candidates with similar or better resumes. Keep working hard and good luck.

I have taken all honors classes and some dual enrollment.. i took the ACT 4 times. And KP you can have a nomination from a congressman from any district so that is how i got 4. I have to wait till march for my dodmerb for my braces :/ . Thank you so much for feedback

My suggestion would be -- get DODMERB done. When doing the paperwork indicate the time frame for braces removal. Most probably (this is the route they followed with my child) they will request a remedial for orthodontics (paperwork is all on DODMERB website). Take the paperwork to the orthodontist, get it signed off and you may be cleared with a caveat that the ortho work be completed as indicated. Don't get stuck in the rush of last minute filings.

Good for you for applying to more than one Congressman and getting that extra interview. Well done! Also, I agree with SDMom2 about getting DoDMERB done ASAP. My DS had braces so we thought about waiting on his DoDMERB. I am really glad we didn't because he ended up having a separate issue that came up in DoDMERB that we had not anticipated. It took several months to get that issue resolved. He got his braces off exactly one week before reporting for INDOC. Cutting it a little too close, but it worked out.

I echo this: Do DODMERB early.

You didn't mention your math grades. Those are important.

Good luck to you.

Are you a football recruit or any other sport? Have you had contact with the coaches?

Thank you for the advice I will get on it ASAP

Football recruit yes, have been in contact with the coaches almost every day
That's awesome. I'm a teacher and a former student of mine played there and loved it. Good luck, it's a great place for the right kid.

Absolutely DODMERB ASAP. Already been covered, but another reason is they get busy.

Braces won’t be a big deal. As already stated. Better to get everything taken care of with just the orthodontics to clear up, VS having everything yet to be determined. I doubt anyone would advise you to wait to begin the process until they are off.

Good luck to you!!

FL is a competitive state for KP, maybe one of the most.

Get going on DODMERB. Remember -- don't self diagnose conditions. Do your best and everything will work as it is supposed to. You can NEVER regret what you attempt -- you can regret the things you don't try because of fear. Go for it! GOOD LUCK!

Getting recruited for a sport helps A LOT. With that, Boy Scouts helps and also bring in band does as well. I’m a current plebe (‘23) at the Academy so if you have any further questions, please reach out. Also, do DoDMERB early!!!

Looks pretty similar to what my stats were... I got in a little late, but hey, I still got in! Good luck kid

Do different states have different rules for MOC nominations? In TX, you can only get a nom in the Congressional district in which you live and then add the two Senators for a total of 3.

Any elected official is free to rank or not rank per the usual methods, collaborate or not collaborate with other officials in the state in not duplicating noms, to not submit the max of 10 names for a slot, to interview or not or use a panel, to choose their submission deadline, to determine what criteria they apply, to specify what they want submitted, to decide if and when they notify you, to choose when they announce their slate - or choose to nominate at all. In any given cycle. That’s always a good point to make for general readership.

It’s not the state which has the rules for the noms from elected officials, it’s the SAs via the CFR.

DOD SAs allow noms from 2 Senators and 1 Representative from the applicant’s home district.

USCGA is not required to use noms.

USMMA applicants may apply to any Representative in their state, not just District.

This is not correct. All Texas reps are allowed to give a nomination. Whether they wish to do so is a different story, but, they are authorized and allowed to do so. You just need to ask.

I’m not sure I follow. Local MOC’s website specifically says he can only nominate those candidates living in his district. Said another was, my DS can not apply to Congressional Rep District 25’s MOC because we do not reside in District 25. One final angle, there are 35 Congressional Districts in TX. My DS cannot apply to all of them.
