I'm kinda anxious about getting my results back from the Naval Academy. Can someone take a look at my credentials and tell me how competitive I look.

ACT : 30 (27 Math, 33 English)

GPA : 4.55

Class Rank : 2 of 385

EC's = Multiple letters in wrestling and cross country, National Honor Society Treasurer, Academic Tutor, youth wrestling coach, 100+ hours of community service.

Thank you

I also passed my CFA with flying colors, attended NASS, and received a nom.

I'm sure you know from poking around here for a few months that you have a quite competitive app but you've also read people saying that what we say probably shouldn't give you any comfort or fear since we're not on the committee. They're also the only ones who have read your teacher rec's or your BGO report, which are a factor. The waiting is really hard but just keep working on Plan B and being around family and friends.

The unfortunate fact (for candidates) is that there are far more fully qualified candidates with noms than there are spots in the incoming class. It's not a question of being great but rather that too many people are great. It's a numbers game -- same issue faced by Yale, Stanford, MIT, etc.

No one knows the chances! I will say the ACT seems low at 30. math 27 is low at the USNA. Just a thought. I would retake ACT if possible and try to raise the MATH and overall ACT Score.
But in the end it depends on who else is in your MOC slate and many other factors GOOD LUCK!!!

Math score is at best borderline. That would concern me. Otherwise looks pretty decent, but not a knock your socks off winner. I'd keep working on it. You want to bolster your app to the extent that you beat the tar out of the competition.

As indicated, there is no "sure thing." Your credentials certainly put you in the hunt, especially since you have a nomination. That said, I know there were plenty of kids with noms who looked better "on paper" than my son. Yet, there he is, grinding out his Plebe year while they are attending college elsewhere.

Keep in mind only about a third of those with nominations will be accepted, hope for the best but be sure to have a backup plan.

Just like CoachKarl's DS, there were undoubtedly lots of other applicants who looked better on paper than my son. Yet he is now Class of 2020. Your stats are all adequate, and much just depends on factors beyond your control. Hang in there!

Yes, many factors go into it, don't give up hope. However, I have been told numerous times that a 30+ ACT is great. Best of luck!
