Chicken Sandwich War of 2021

I think it would be fun to survey the people in the drive-through line at Chick Fil A on the topics the Cathy family believe in.

Everybody wants to be an activist calling for boycotts until it comes to good chicken.

I hope that we don't start a Bourbon comparison thread where I have to sample many of them.

I don’t want to derail the thread, but a month ago I was sent to Northern Kentucky for two weeks by my employer to work on a software go-live. Since the plant we were at works a 4-12 schedule we had Friday through Sunday off between the weeks. Of course the only reasonable thing to do was hit as much of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail as we could during that three day period. My coworker and I made it to 11 of the 21 official stops on the trail (we actually went to two of them twice, so it was 13 stops). Lots of fun and very interesting. I will admit that between the two of us we ended up with 21 bottles of bourbon to bring home.

I used to go to Louisville several times per year on business and loved it but that was >25 yrs ago and before the Bourbon Trail was a thing.
I was finally headed back for a convention last year and was planning to do the trail but COVID shut that right down. I hope to get back there in the next few yrs.

Or Rum for that matter. . . :stretcher:
Oh Bourbon. The elixir of life, the yummy corn/wheat/rye mash aged to perfection. It is before noon but mouth is already watering thinking of that lovely brown liquid. I vote for bourbon thread. But it has to be refined. No scotch, no Irish, no Tennessee whiskey, just pure Bourbon.

I had completely forgotton that 'Retha was in that movie.

No Zaxby's? My church group has this big war going on between Chick Fil A and Zaxby's. I love to spectate as the kid that likes all food, no matter who gave it to me.

Gosling Black Seal, take it or leave it. If you elect to leave it, I’ll gladly take it.

Chick-Fil-A chicken is moist, tender and flavorful, but the crunch factor is way down there. I am happy to eat it, but I am not checking my crunchy fried chicken block when I do. I do have a fondness for the chicken biscuit available in the AM at Chick-Fil-A and Hardee’s.
Uh... what's a Hardee's?

And this torched off a memory for me. I was introduced to Goslings by my Team Captain and eventual Ensign Roommate/Best Man who went from being a two-time Class A (Black N plus Star) winner to being a flag officer and senior member of his staff corps community.

We went to the Navy-Air Force football game several years ago in Colorado Springs. The Falcons won, and as they whooped and hollered afterward on their way to the locker room, they passed a long table holding bags of Chick-Fil-A. Each player grabbed one as they jogged by, which elicited more whoopin’ and hollerin’. Seemed like the perfect reward for a big inter-SA victory.

Then there’s this: DD as a plebe said they were served Chick-fil-A for dinner one evening. “So we knew there was some bad news coming,” said DD. Don’t recall what that bad news was, but quite a ploy!

Oh my, Goslings...brings back my first VP deployment to Bermuda. Single, deployed, and money burning a hole in the pocket. Dark and stormy beach parties, oh my!

I can confirm that some of the same degeneracy is occurring today.

Here are my credentials to happily dive into the Gosling’s Fan Club thread diversion.

Hold the chicken. I am going to brag.

Best Dark and Stormy I ever had? Including drink, company and ambiance? Pier side at Pearl Harbor, late at night, holiday lights ablaze, aboard ship, with DH and newfound officer friends after 8 of them had dined with us on our lanai at our quarters way up high in Halawa Heights at Camp Smith, in the wardroom of…

I had volunteered to be their port liaison officer during their port call. Enormous amount of advance coordination, logistics planning, protocol dancing, VIP juggling, special requests, heavy schedule, including an evening tattoo on the pier with the embarked RM Pipes and Drums unit.
