I think it's mixed. Some people become aware of their appointment after checking the portal and receive their appointment in the mail days later. For others like me, it's the other way around.

Still no VA10 yet...strange. I guess applicants from my district haven't heard of this forum, haha.
 
USMA Appt Received 12/20 - Minnesota

An early Christmas gift arrived for my son today, he opened the USMA package, read the letter to himself and exclaimed "I'm In!!". Sometimes the best things happen when you least expect it, keep the faith.

My son received his appointment to USMA today! Senators nomination from California. District 22
 
Dec 20 Appointment

My son does not have LOA. He received his congressional nomination (competitive slate) December 1st. MN Senator Nominations have not been sent out yet. He did attend SLS last summer.
