Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

does anyone know how many appointments have been given out for new york? i live in NY and i have only read about 1 or 2 NY appts on the list for the class of 2015 on the forum..

If you use the rule of thumb that about 7-8% of candidates are on this site, than you can extrapolate it out. Probably 15 or so from NY have been notified if 1 or 2 have posted here.

Declination signed and in mailbox. :frown:

Hope if nothing else it helps someone else out!

Keeping fingers crossed for everyone here today - I'll definitely be following this thread at work!

Stalked until 11:45. Mailbox held a BFE!! DS was speechless.

Tell us again about your son!!

Stalked until 11:45. Mailbox held a BFE!! DS was speechless.

What were his ACT/SAT, especially extrcurricular, leadership, sports and community service!

CONGRATULTIONS!!!!!!!!

Dad: Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know you have been waiting a long time. Checked mail: No BFE, No TWE

We're counting down to post 1000 folks! Let's keep them coming!!!! Who will get the special honor???

Mom of USAFA Candidate 2015

Congratulations to all who got their BFEs!!! ... :thumb::wink:

Still no envelopes in the mailbox today here in Southern California! I am so tempted to call the ALO myself to inquire about the appointees in our area. This is really making me go insane... Did anyone hear from California today?

My prayers go out for all the candidates and their families. All of these DSs and DDs are blessed with so much intellectually, physically, and emotionally to even get to this point. BFEs or TWEs, they will all go on to great things! :yllol::shake::shake:

PS.
Question: If a Candidate receives the dreaded TWE, does USAFA automatically consider him/her for the AFROTC or does one have to have applied for it before? How about the Prep School?

Hope Pima or Flieger93 can answer... Thanks!

Dear Friends,

As posted yesterday, we called USAFA counselor and learned "excellent candidate, no slots available". After a devastating night and both me and son calling it a night at 8 pm, we woke up feeling much better. Overnight I have become a semi-expert (teasing) on USAFA Prep School and Falcon Scholar opportunities. They sometimes follow right behind a TWE. SO NEW GOAL IS RECEIVE THAT IN THE MAIL! Also learned it is such a tight class number, not to raise our hopes on a last minute Appointment, BUT my son will be considered if a "decline" comes in from another Appointee. It's not over until June folks!! hang in there!! Also working hot and heavy on getting pumped up over Option B (more paperwork, agh), campus visit, etc. Son already advised Counselor to carry forward his file for class of 2016; he is reapplying this summer. It carries weight when you re-apply and shows you truly want it. If you receive the Prep School or Falcon offer, take it!!! It increases your chances of getting in tremendously. Will keep you posted.

And now for my post for Mailbox Stalker friends,

Super congrats to Dad, Bogie247 and Victorious! Doing the happy dance for you!

To BrianReed, Blackbird, RangerMom, FlyerDreamer, Gotaplay2, promise me to stay strong (we are in the same shoes right now) and positive and keep moving forward. Many paths to the same goal. Some things are beyond our control, that is for sure. DON'T GIVE UP! Enjoy life and hug those kids (and parents). So proud of all of you!!!

AFROTC is an entirely seperate application process.

Prep school is automatically considered for a candidate with a TWE.

attybella,

I'm an overseas Californian - I couldn't wait anymore so I gave the Admissions Counselors a call; their number can be found here: https://admissions.usafa.edu/Questions.htm

They're able to tell you whether you're in or not, but won't tell you where you can improve your application for next year (at least the gentlemen I talked to said he wasn't able to).

Hope that helps - best of luck!!!

P.S. What CA district are you from?

BFE received yesterday! My DD is starting to freak out now that USAFA is a real possibility and not just some dream.
To BrianReed: my daughter is a facebook friend of yours so I have been keeping up with you on this thread. I guess you all met at summer seminar. I am so proud of you and know that you will get to USAFA one way or another. Best of Luck!
To all others that received the TWE, best of luck, as well.
This thread has become bitter-sweet in that we rejoice with those who received the BFE and our hearts break for those who did not. Sometimes I think luck has a roll in all of this. My DD just got rejected from Rice and waitlisted at Vanderbilt but accepted to USAFA, Coast Guard and Cornell - go figure!

Glad to see TWA back to her normal self.

AKA MikeR'smom....No word yet here in NW Florida. Waiting for 1415 again when DS gets home to check mail, and then waiting for the 1416 phone call (hoping!!).

I haven't be able to join the mailbox stalkers club because I don't live at home (read: other side of the country). So the closest I get to it is the occasional text to my mom asking if she's gotten any mail for me lately. (Sometimes, it's a yes. Why she doesn't call me to tell me I got a nomination is beyond me...).

Well, this weekend I e-mailed her asking for her to mail me a few things...nothing exciting, just food, pictures, and my meds. I got a text yesterday evening saying I had to call her as soon as I got the package, because it was insured....wait, what? why insure a package with granola bars and medicine that if necessary, I could get otc/go without? I had my suspicions...

Well, I have a 5 page essay due tonight @6:00. I'm on page two. I told myself when I booted up my computer that I would not check online. I mean...I'd get a BFE before it updates online, right? And if it did...my ALO would have known if the online status changes (right?)...it'd just be a distraction

somehow I ended up on the application anyway (well I have terrible self control I guess...) and...

WHAT? So I just find out I got accepted to USAFA, all of my close 200 friends in ROTC got their EAs, the snow has melted and I'm supposed to sit in my room and write a philosophy essay? I want to go run 10 miles right now!

oh well. time to work on that essay.

good luck to the stalkers, congrats to you who got your BFE, and those who recieve TWEs...know that AFROTC is still pretty awesome. In fact, I might choose staying with it instead of the academy...:confused::confused:
