Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

How do the boards work? Havent they been running since october or so? Any info is appreciated.
I believe that the boards have been meeting since October. I think that they have been evaluating, then "racking and stacking" the files to be released at one time. I think that they made adjustments to the order of the stack as applicants updated their files. The exception to this would be for those with Principal nominations or for some recuited athletes. This is only my speculation.

A goat? A Falcon is supposed to fear a goat? Lol. I'm dying laughing here...
If this was still High School Football I'd be telling you to fear the Calhoun County "Sandcrabs"..."Goats" is a step up!

BTW our Sandcrabs did very well and made it to the Alamodome to compete in the state 4A championships...But surely they could have come up with a better name.:shake:

It doesn't say on the portal. The portal said under Application; "Complete, but disqualified for administrative reasons." HE then called his ALO and we contacted his USAFA admissions counselor. The admissions counselor told us it was due to the CFA.

Is there a waiver process that can be accomplished at this point? All of us ex mil guys remember the first time they started taping and doing BMIs on us, a bunch of guys failed because they were the 200 pound linebacker types with enough muscles to fill a room. They finally caught on to the ridiculousness of it all and had the alternative pinch test. I can still remember having to council some of the fittest men I knew about weight standards...

 (Keepin my fingers crossed for you)

To add a little humor...USAFA beat USNA last year. My DS is going to USNA IN June. I guess USNA will be getting some of the bigger guys this year. BEWARE FALCONS! FEAR THE GOATS! :sofa:

He'll probably going to in it for a little PAYBACK too!

:yllol:

Thanks Romad. DS mailed in his acceptance to USNA today. His choice between the USAFA and USNA was very close so he (and we) are happy with the appointment to USNA. That being said, his counselor pretty much gave us to understand that the DQ was the last word.

BTW it reminds me of the Graham/Rudman act, which is why I never went to OTS. HQ AF told me when I applied to OTS that I would 6 mos. past my 30th birthday upon graduation and they weren't granting any waivers, I would be too old... Water under the bridge...and passed far into the ocean after these many years. But like you and CC, I look back on my time in Tac Comm with pleasure, it was serious work, but a lot of fun! "The AF branch of the Army."

It sure was wasn't it. I hate it that your son had to be disqualled for such a cheesy thing, but I'm confident that he's going to do very well at the Boat School. Maybe it's just meant to be... Sort of like "The Golden BB"...

To add to your speculation about the racking and stacking, I think the other exception might be those that would have been sent an LOA.

Just my opinion, but if you maxed everything else, your mile really isn't bad. Provided the rest of your WCS is good, I wouldn't worry too much about your CFA. Also, I'd guess that if you haven't been DQ'd by now for CFA, you probably won't be. Especially since it's "down to the wire" by now and most DQ's have probably already been done. I'd expect a lot of BFE's will go out this and next week. I know it's easy to say don't stress about it. Most of you know if the CFA score was a concern, we did. If it was a concern BUT, your portal hasn't changed by now my guess would be that it won't. GOOD LUCK!

any particular reason that you think all the DQs would be in by now? when did you find this out for DS? Now I am more paranoid, my DS only did 7 but his academics are very high and I have heard from several sources that his WCS is high. OMG, can we get this over with before I have an MI!!!

insanity

There were so many things we learned from the entire process and even though my DS was disqualified because of the CFA, we know that we did the best we could through the entire process; from the three and a half hour travel one way for an interview, all the way down to the CFA that wasn't good enough. It's a tough world out there and my belief is that the strongest in all categories combined will take the cake - and that's how it should be. We are just a little bit disappointed, but we continue to smile because we all did the best we could, my DS....for himself, my DH and myself with support and travel...we have not a thing we could have done better at this point. He now has direction and we know exactly where my DS will be in August. He still has the same goal and he will reach that goal and we will still be the same very proud parents supporting and cheering him on.

Thanks for the humor

I keep stalking this and my mailbox, but I must say thank you to all of the parents who are making the SA admissions process, well, fun! It's a roller coaster experience, but the humor is helping me stay positive!!!:thumb:

I'm guessing that because they're in the last few weeks of choosing, and doing DQ's, for whatever reason, will make the stack shorter. I think the DQ for DS was done last Friday. I had checked his portal in the early afternoon on Friday and all was well. I checked it again this past Sunday and it had changed.

Your right. I forgot about LOAs. Those are a rarity this cycle.

Yes they are a rarity this cycle, but I feel that they still knew early on during October about the early selections. They already knew going into Oct about the mandate, but yet my DS was told by his ALO to get his package completed by Oct 2nd. His ALO had been given a 3 Oct package completion deadline by USAFA for my DS (non athelete, non prin nom...just a regular joe).

Thanks, that helps and I agree it makes sense but... who knows.

I'm sure your DS will do well at USNA. My DS plan B,C, D all include me paying a lot of money. :frown:

Oh boy! SANDCRABS???? Laughing My Behind OFF! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the humor today...

At least we will be going from being "BullDogs" (how original) to a Falcon (we hope...). As of right now, he's going to be going to "Otto the Orange" WTH is that? SMH (in shame). Man that is one thing I should not have researched... an Orange? Really?

Unless things have changed the answer is NO yorkie.

DS is 5'10 and 147 lbs, male. The weight issue is not a CFA issue, it is more a DoDMERB issue.

DS has been taped 2X a yr every yr for 4 yrs.

Prof,

Every poster that spent anytime in the AD world would say many times it is all about timing. Enter one yr earlier or later life could be different.

Let me use Bullet as an example.

He entered as an AFROTC cadet, extended graduation/commission date by 6 months from the original date. FF to 92. Had he actually commissioned in 86, not 87, he would have been RIF'd. That yr group was 95% for ROTC commissions. FF to 98, O4 selection was 80%, but in 97 it was 60%.

My point is, sometimes it is really about being at the right place at the right time. He did his best, but in the end of the day it was about timing.

Bless him. Bless your family. Thank all of you in your family for stepping up to the plate, so my HS SR and college DD didn't have too! God speed, may the road always rise up to meet you and keep you safe!

Couldn't agree more with PIMA. Here is some advice for all those AD wannabes (AF, Army, Navy doesn't matter). Your career is based on luck, skill, and timing...only one is within your control. All of our DS/DD are heroes for just getting this far.

Amen to that! And being an ADAF spouse for all these years.... it's all about the "hurry up and wait" for the rest of their Military career. You'd think my fellow military spouses would stop asking me "when are you going to hear something" as they should know how this all works. I keep saying, everyday it isn't a "No" is one more day that DS is still in the running.
