Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Got a TWE from Naval Academy today, however that's my 2nd or 3rd choice, with USAFA obviously being first!

Really hope for an appointment, but I know that spots are limited, even if I am a nominee and such. All nominees have great resumes and what not; it's simply who the Air Force Academy needs right now. I'm just hoping they need lil old me

Good luck to everyone else! The TWE from Naval should have taken all the bad karma out of my mailbox, which only leaves... the BFE karma??? (That's the good news by the way... you probably now know what the bad news was.)

Anyway, Until tomorrow, adieu.

To infinity, and beyond!

Love your attitude. Best wishes for a BFE. :thumb:

The best part about this thread is watching the mood shift every 10 or so pages. This weekend everyone was negative and expecting a TWE, now everyone is optimistic again. It's an emotional roller coaster.

Yup, my mood switched too. Hopeful, then came the TWE. I got into NWPrep, yet still hopeful for either USAFAPS or Falcon.

After more than 3 months of agonizing my DS came home and said he was going to accept the appointment to USMA class of 2016, he decided that for what he was interested in it was a better fit than the USAFA. It was a very difficult decision for for him and he kept wavering back and forth. I have been on both forum sites for a while now so I hope it will be OK because I am still going to check back daily on the USAFA site to see how everyone else is doing with your BFE's. Good luck to all of you!

No news for my DS either.... no TWE or BFE. We are still holdling out for USAFA, however my son's amazing Plan B was placed into action a long time ago. Enrollment deposits were made, housing applications got filled out, and freshman orientation has been scheduled. DS decided long ago that should he receive the QNV letter, Air Force ROTC will be in his future!

We are prepared no matter what path God has chosen for DS. Heartfelt Congrats to everyone who has received a BFE. For those of you who have received a TWE already, I'm so sorry for your bad news, but there is more than one way to become an Air Force Officer. Your dream is FAR from over!

Fellow Mailbox stalkers.....stalk ON!

Best wishes to your DS.

He made his decision and now it is time for you as a parent to buy all USMA stuff!

For others waiting, today is going to be the start of the push! It has been stated that boards meet on Monday, results are collated on Tuesday, letters written on Wednesday, results Thur-Sat, some on Mon.

I know you all wish it is was a 7 day a week thing, but 4 yrs here and nothing has changed regarding apptmts.

Caveat the dates change because some place their apptmt upon receipt of the BFE, and some by date the apptmt was written. Yet, there is a common thread...Sunday/Tuesday/Wednesday are not days to be Snoopy.

Whatever happens life will move on. You will get that commission if it is your dream! Source maybe not your dream, but in the big picture who cares?

BFE or TWE the ball is officially in your court! For the 1st time you have control. Walk away that is your decision, not the AF or AFA. Stay and take AFROTC that is your decision, not theirs.

Your fate is in your hands!

Instead of making a new thread I wanted to post my question here.

I received both a TWE from the United States Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy. The question I'm having is on the United States Naval Academy letter it says I am unable to be offered an appointment to "USNA or its preparatory programs".

The Air Force Academy letter states I am unable to be offered an appointment to USAFA. The only thing different was that on the USAFA letter it never mentioned anything about being denied to the preparatory programs.

Am I rejected all together (Both preparatory school and direct appointment for both USNA and USAFA or do I still have a chance for USAFA prep and falcon?)

I wanted to know this as soon as possible before securing my plan C.

I think I can speak for a few on this forum who wonder about this.

I recommend taking the letters for exactly what they say. If the USAFA letter doesn't say you are rejected for their prep school options then do not assume you have been rejected. If the letters say you have been rejected then do not assume you will get a late appointment.

Either way, it sounds like you need to be moving forward with Plan C. If a USAFA Prep offer comes your way, then it will be icing on the cake.

Thanks because I wanted to know this.

My bro 2 years ago got the same TWE and I don't know what it said but I know he was rejected through direct appointment. Around late April he was offered prep though when he found out through the portal. My portal still says "candidate" but probably because it hasn't been updated.

I just wanted to know for sure if I am rejected for prep and falcon before completely moving on plan C which would be the DEP program or even accept a college's offer because that would end up making me pay $$$ then backing out if I do get prep (Doubt it)

I should probably compare the letter I got to my friend's letter and see if it says the same thing or if his says that he was denied direct, prep, and falcon.

Matthew1994, Sorry to hear about your TWE but you definitely cleared something up for me. I'm still waiting out here in NC for any word from USNA and I've already been told by my BGO that my application is in a pool for potential NAPS but I was wondering if I got the TWE, if that meant NAPS was no longer in the running. Based on your letter, it sounds like once you get the thin letter from USNA, the game is over. Of course, there's always reapplying. The waiting is the hardest part. Just wish they didn't make us wait so long for bad news. Good-luck with your plan C and i'm sure you'll do great.

My portal still says "candidate" but probably because it hasn't been updated.

Last year, the portal didn't change from "Candidate" even if you got an Appointment. "Status: Complete" will remain even if you received a TWE. You want to see: "Appointment Status: Appointment Offered" or "Appointment Status: Prep School Offered". A TWE will not update your portal (at least not last year).

I am not familiar with the US postal delivery system (living overseas), but what days and time does mail get delivered?

Time depends completely on where you live down to the street. I get my mail in the morning around 11:00am. The people that live about 10 doors down from me get their mail in the afternoon around 4:00pm. Mail is delivered every day except Sundays and holidays.

skydiving are you a military dependent?

Big factor because your address is an APO box.

I just pm you

Hi Dad,

I just PM you.
thank you

I get my mail through relatives who then send the mail down here. So I'll hear about a BFE or TWE but it won't be until another week or two till I get it here.
