Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Portal updated today saying I was offered a scholarship to prep school! All grins and smiles over here!

Good luck to those that are waiting to hear on prep school and falcon scholarships.

CONGRATS TO YOU!! Time to change what it says by your forum name. You shouldn't really identify yourself as a TWE 2016 or a prospective 2017 anymore. You are a USAFAPS Appointee! Focus on success and doing your best while there and the rest will come. With your positive attitude, I just know you will be doing great things -- this coming year and in the future.

So great to hear that good things happen to good people.
Take care, and keep us updated.

Thank you! So your ACT composite is 28? That's higher than mine.

For anyone who's interested, my ACT scores are:

Beat me in math and reading, though! I really want to try to get those up in particular, and try to get my english/science up to 30s.

Congratulations

Way to go LFry!!! I was following you all the way and never gave up!

I am the mom of a C3C and I still love to stalk these forums around this time of year! It reminds me to remind my DS just how badly he wanted this experience. Nearing the end of his second year at USAFA, I can honestly say that he's never been happier. He is surrounded by so many high quality cadets who have a positive purpose in their lives!

Please keep us posted throughout the next year and throughout your career! Your posts have become a very uplifting part of my day :shake: I'll be looking for you on the Hill next year :thumb:

Ok Haley - you're next!!

Great goal! I would love to increase each of my scores to 30+ myself.

Thank you! I'll try to be active enough here to give you guys updates. Studies first though! I wonder how limited internet access is at prep school...

I'm hoping a lot of people here get offers...

Congratulations LFry94... My daughter's status just changed this morning. She will be joining you at Prep School. :thumb:

Wondering being that it is such a competitive year if the prep school standards have also increased. My DS received a TWE and I would assume his weakness with academics. (ALO told him his leadership, EC and CFA were at the top of his group of candidates) Although UW GPA was 3.94 (4.0+ with AP and honors classes) his act scores were not as strong. He 30 on the math but all other sections were between 26-28. In past years I didn't think he would fit into the prep school group but this year he may. I know in past years there seems to be a gap where kids who receive a TWE are too qualified for prep but not qualified enough for an direct appointment.

Congrats to all of you who have recieved prep appointments! Lfry94- it made my day to see your good news!

From everything I have read... whether it's USAFA or any other service academy. It's the WHOLE package, and NOT just academics.

I agree it is the whole package for an appointment but prep is specially for students with an academic weakness where an extra year of schooling will better prepare them for the academy. Students are not sent to prep who are lacking in EC or leadership. F

Awesome! Congratulations! Head on over to the prep school appointment thread and add your name to the list. :thumb:

LFry94, way to go. Congratulations. I've enjoyed reading some of your posts. Fantastic attitude and great maturity. I am sure you will be successful. My son will be a senior on Graduation Day and I can't believe how fast the time is going. I'm actually going out for a weekend visit and I can't wait. If you have not been out for a visit yet, I suggest it.

Again, congratulations.
Bill

Congrats on prep school! ALO and admissions told ds he was QNV but too qualified for prep. There is a gap in there somehow that doesnt make sense to mant. Good luck to you all still waiting
