Finally! A qualified letter appeared! I think DS will still e-mail his RC to see where he is on the NWL.

My DS emailed RC with no response... waited a week then I emailed him with "parent of class of 2018 cc + son name" in the subject line... I got an email the next morning...Include DS ss# so he can easily look up the info... he was very informative, told us where he stood on the slates... (all closed) not the news we wanted to hear... NWL not likely to get appointment... but at least we had an answer and the anxiety was over...
Best of luck

How are candidates usually notified of appointments? I understand some congressmen call, but is it online, BFE, or some other way?

I read on another post that it would be on your cadet portal under over view. It will be in a blue box saying you have been admitted and it gives you the option of accepting or denying admittance.

I have received a letter saying I was medicaly qualified is that the same thing?

I asked a similar question about a month ago in my own post, check the post out. Everyone found out in different ways. I found out originally when a staff member from my congressman's office called me to inform me. Next came an update to my portal, after that came the letter in the mail.

No. Medical qualification is only one of the three qualifications required. The other two qualifications required are academically and physically (the CFA test)

DS still awaiting decision on medical waiver

Our DS is a principal nominee (23rd CD), academically & physically qualified, but his status is still listed as "pending medical waiver/review" on DoDMERB. All remedials have been submitted and posted for USMA review (confirmed on Monday, 3/24) but still no news. DS even conversed with DoDMERB Deputy Director via email personally to get clarification on a couple of items. Remaining very hopeful...

Waivers are reviewed by physicians at West Point. Please touch base with your RC. He/She should know where in the process the review is. I believe the deadline for medical qualification is approaching so I would do this quickly.

Still waiting here in Montana. Really am clueless as to what to do next. This is so nerve wracking as the father of my DS! He has three nominations to USMA and two to USNA. One of each is a Presidential.

DougofMontana has your DS contacted his FFR or RC for an update on his application? They can certainly give him an idea of where he stands on the NWL if he has already been 3Qd.

You were right Sledge!

It's coming...soon. Good times.

Just wanted to follow-up...DS was contacted by Congressman last week and Appointment displayed in Portal this morning! Whew! Glad that step is complete, on to getting him ready for R-Day.
Thank you for guidance and support! I will continue utilizing this resource and the knowledge of its members for years to come. I am grateful.
