Yeah my daily routine is get up, eat breakfast, check the portal, go to school, workout, and finally check the portal again :)

Agreed, Cayden! Generally, I like to sleep in, but every morning I wake up and my first thought is "check the portal!" and I have to do that before anything else. I wake up early now just to check it. We should just started a thread of venting and going crazy about having to wait so long. But it's true, there's always tomorrow...

Congrats!!!! and for those of you waiting.....89 days of checking the portal from LOA to nomination.....94 to appointment. We feel your pain....
 
I have another question...besides the obvious, like failing a class, doing drugs, getting arrested, breaking a bone, etc.... are there any other reasons why the Academy might rescind my appointment??

Seriously - just don't do anything illegal or immoral. Stay safe and keep your grades up. Use common sense and you'll be fine.

Out of curiosity (I am not yet an appointee) if we were to lower our GPA this semester and had an appointment, would they possibly take it away? For example, if I were appointed with a 4.0 but got a B or two this semester, would they possibly rescind the appointment?
DISCLAIMER: I know all of you wonderful parents are going to say keep your nose clean and just continue to get good grades, and I intend to do so. I just want to know for curiosity's sake ;)

In my opinion, you'd probably be ok if you got a B or 2. Remember, it's the whole person, not just the grades that they look at. Now, if you failed a class - that might cause some problems.
 
My DD wanted to be absolutely sure that she wouldn't get into any kind of trouble -- she went so far as to leave when she thought the senior prank may go too far. It didn't, but she didn't want to risk it. Interestingly, her leaving probably made everyone else think about what they were doing, so the prank was funny and pretty mild (no property damage.)
 
Hi Bailey, I think you would have to mess up pretty badly to lose your appointment. Based on what I have heard and read elsewhere, I don't think getting a couple of B's (or possibly even a C) would cause them to reconsider, especially if you already have a 4.0.

Of course, it's always good to keep that perfect GPA. ;) I look at it as practice--if I plan to keep a high GPA at a service academy, I should definitely make sure I am able to do so in a civilian environment. Thinking this way helps encourage me to do my homework instead of checking my portal :rolleyes:.

Haha, yes it is now a matter of pride for me to keep up my GPA. That and I am so close to valedictorian. I'm trying not to screw it up, but senioritis is really tough! That being said, I am now going to log off the forum and do physics work ;)
