Am i required to take computer science to get into USAFA, because my school doesn't have it as an option. Also do i need to take the writing portion in the ACT

You don’t have to take a class if your school doesn’t offer it. USAFA will review your transcript alongside your school profile. They’ll know what’s on offer and what’s not. You won’t be punished for what you can’t do.

I tell my students in your circumstances that they may want to look for some other opportunities to gain this experience and learning from other sources outside school or through other school sources, such as you math or science studies. You may want to consult with your high school counselor to see if he/she has some insights to share with you. Good luck with your preparations!

CS is recommended but not required, especially if your school does not offer it. If you want to add CS aspect to your resume without a formal class, look into extracurricular or outside of school activities in coding, web development, or IT stuff. Or, may be pick up an online course. For SA, only West Point requires ACT with writing score.

Neither one of my boys had CS and both were appointed. The question never came up. Having said that, knowing R would be helpful for Calc.

I have 27' where CS was not offered at their school and the issue never came up. Focus on the class you do have and excel at them.

My DD is a C3C. She never took CS in high school, even though they offered it. She wasn't very interested in it so she didn't take it. She maxed out on science and math classes. She had excellent grades and test scores and was a strong athlete. I certainly wouldn't sweat it if your school doesn't offer it. Make sure you are well-rounded in all the areas they care about.
