I have a question. . . is the Swimming 101 class required of all Plebes or can they test out of it?

Pretty sure they can't... I don't know about the new curriculum, but I think there is an STCW control sheet for all of the swiming classes, so no real way to place out.

On top of that, it is an easy way to bump your GPA a bit, which most people could use plebe year.
 
That's what I thought. I had shared DS' schedule on my FB page and someone made a comment, "Oh, looks like he's one of the ones who has to take swimming". But I thought they all had to take it. Thanks!
 
My 2/C has validated every swim class: plebe year, youngster year, and just validated 2/C year as well.
