Luigi... sorry you couldn't be at the game.
It was definitely an impassioned struggle on the field...
Your CGA quarterback had quite a nasty habit of drilling the ball into open areas of coverage... and the distasteful audiacity of completing deep passes.... in particular one for 50 yards
And the CGA wide receivers with superglue on their hands running down the sidelines and towards the end zone, catching passes. MOST disrespectful. !!!
To be fair, however, KP also completed a number of passes to CGA receivers (apparently a combination of either great coverage/telegraphed passes/or both).
But the Mariners gutted it out, and never gave up ... especially when they were down early. I enjoyed watching the pushups after each score. I was pretty far away from the KP plebes, but noted a few CGA kids (plebes?) doing one-armed pushups!
That worked in the low numbers/teens.. I think they switched to regular once the score passed into the twenties.
The day for me was summed up on a CGA drive late in the 4th quarter. 3rd down, shortish yards to go. I looked behind me. One lady was covering her eyes with her hands. But she had her fingers spread so that she should see... afraid to look, but could not miss a second of the game. Her son was out there on the defense... And a great defensive stop it was that play too.. Sighs of relief.
All in all, just about the best struggle between these two rivals on the field, compatriots on the seas.
Kudos to both teams... although a kudo or two more for the Mariners, for showing me a win on parents weekend
