Congressmen Called About Appointment.

As I remember it from last year, it was a few days after the MOC call before the portal updated. Congrats! Now stay healthy and spend time with family.

My congressmen called and told me I was accepted to USAFA, but my portal still tells me I am a candidate and not accepted. I’m just confused.
Congrats!! Portals sometimes take time to update as I'm sure you know. I actually received the portal update before my Congressman told me I received a nom. I received the nom this last Saturday in my portal but have yet to receive contact from his office. Hopefully I get some good news when that call does come. But anyway, congratulations to you :)

Well I hope your call comes through, and I hope you’ll be getting a call for offer of appointment soon too!

The Academies sometimes try to let MOC make the notification to the constituents they nominated of their acceptance. I would take it as a good sign and be patient. Congrats!
Correction: Not "sometimes". The academies notify the MOCs a few days prior to any portal update or otherwise notifying the candidate which is a courtesy to the elected official to allow them a chance to deliver the good news. None of the academies want to annoy the MOCs so this is the standard.

Ohh ok. Thank you!

Happens all the time. Sometimes you get a call, sometimes the portal changes first, sometimes the BFE comes before anything. Doesn't appear to be any consistent way people are notified. Congrats!!!

To echo OldRetSWO, the normal procedure for USAFA (and I assume the others are very similar) is to notify the MOC 7 days before the portal updates. This allows the MOC time to contact the candidate if they wish to deliver the good news. My DS received a call from our MOC and an e-mail from our Senator the day before the portal updated.

Fair, bad wording on my part. It’s a nice courtesy when taken advantage of, but I know the MOC doesn’t always follow through which is where I was coming at from my original post, not the Academy’s fault there

Facebook reminded me today that a year ago today our son received the call of his appointment to USNA. Oddly, looking at the picture I was wearing the same shirt then as I had on today as a guest teacher at the school. Clearly I need to change up my game.
