My congressmen called and told me I was accepted to USAFA, but my portal still tells me I am a candidate and not accepted. I’m just confused.
Congrats!! Portals sometimes take time to update as I'm sure you know. I actually received the portal update before my Congressman told me I received a nom. I received the nom this last Saturday in my portal but have yet to receive contact from his office. Hopefully I get some good news when that call does come. But anyway, congratulations to youMy congressmen called and told me I was accepted to USAFA, but my portal still tells me I am a candidate and not accepted. I’m just confused.
Well I hope your call comes through, and I hope you’ll be getting a call for offer of appointment soon too!Congrats!! Portals sometimes take time to update as I'm sure you know. Correction: Not "sometimes". The academies notify the MOCs a few days prior to any portal update or otherwise notifying the candidate which is a courtesy to the elected official to allow them a chance to deliver the good news. None of the academies want to annoy the MOCs so this is the standard. The Academies sometimes try to let MOC make the notification to the constituents they nominated of their acceptance. I would take it as a good sign and be patient. Congrats!

Fair, bad wording on my part. It’s a nice courtesy when taken advantage of, but I know the MOC doesn’t always follow through which is where I was coming at from my original post, not the Academy’s fault thereCorrection: Not "sometimes".
