I am a HS Senior in the Greater Louisville/ Kentuckana area interested in applying to the USCGA.
I feel so cut off in this area. I need people to talk to.
Any potential applicants, current cadets, or past graduates willing to talk and exchange advice and tips about the application process, please post here.

Hello and welcome to the Forum - a little advice as you get started:

Use the search function in this part of the forum - all of the people you have mentioned have commented on all of the above ideas on multiple occasions. You will see plenty on application process/advice, cadet life, post-graduate experiences, etc. all the way down to trivial advice on what underwear to bring to swab summer.

Comb through the USCGA website thoroughly, there is a wealth of information to be had - and they just redesigned the website with a lot more information added. You're getting information from the formal source vice anonymous posters on a forum.

If you have not already, contact your assigned Admissions Officer (info on the website), let them know who you are and your interest. Ask if there is anyone in the area you can speak with - USCGA retains hundreds of volunteers known as Academy Admissions Partners - we are available to assist you in your process and also conduct your interview (in person or via Skype/Video Chat).

Bottom line, ask questions - but make sure you also research on your own. It's a skill that will set you up for much success later one.

Thank you for the reply! I guess who I am looking for would fall under the position of Academy Admissions Partner. I had no idea that position exsisted.

You're welcome - the best place to find one is through your Admissions Officer, you can find them here: https://www.uscga.edu/admissions-officers/

Send me a private message. One of the 2018 grads was from Louisville.

You can also send me a PM. One of the 2017 grads was also from Kentucky. I might be able to put you in touch with the parents. Although an Admissions Partner is likely your best bet for up to date information.

Hey, I'm applying to the class of 2023 as well! we should stay in touch I will send you a friend request! And don't worry once you join on here you're not alone!
