I'm looking to meet in person with my local BGO and wanted to make sure I was going about it properly. On the USNA site it says, "Below is a list of Area Coordinators who can put you in touch with your local BGO." It only has one for my state (NC) so I'm guessing I should just email him with my location and some other information requesting the contact information of my local BGO.

That is correct. The Area Coordinator can put you in contact with your local BGO.

What year in school are you? Are you a 2025 candidate ? Just be aware that in today's times, a BGO may be reluctant to "meet in person" with strangers, when a phone call will usually do. Traditionally, we have done all interviews in persons, and there has not been any guidance from Admissions to the contrary yet, but I suspect that Admissions will leave it to the BGO discretion going forward.

You are seeing the Area Coordinator. BGOs report up to the AC. BGOs constantly change for each area and each school . Are you a rising senior? If you are, hold tight. A BGO will be assigned to you in the portal. If you can't wait, then ask the AC if they could provide who your projected BGO would be. Also, the BGO will interview you in person or Skype (depends on COVID and distance) They may or may not meet with you prior to this. If you have questions, feel free to ask them. If you are not a rising senior, they may or may not meet with you in person also. Its not required and they can be helpful over email or phone too.

And, bear in mind BGO's are often times busy working people with hectic careers and travel schedules. They may not get back to you right away. Be patient. Our son's BGO traveled often for his active duty military position and communicated when he could.

DS attended an online session last week specifically about BGOs. It may still be available online.

The guidance given was that the official candidate portal will open this week and as Hoops said above that the assigned BGO will be designated clearly.

There was additional solid contact on how to contact and interact with BGOs

The guidance given was that the official candidate portal will open this week ....

> Portal will open soon ...not necessarily this week. Be patient ---it's a new Operating System, and there will be growing pains. A hint -no need to keep asking when it will open .....I am sure there will be 100 posts on SAF as soon as it opens !
