Could I get my appointment in December?

Right now I am 3 qd, i have a nomination and a LOA. Could my appointment arrive in December.
 
I suppose anything is possible, but the whole world shuts down this time of year and then slowly gears up again in Jan. I wouldn't look for it before mid Jan... But you may get lucky.
 
It depends on when you received your LOA and a nomination. What is the date on your LOA? And What is the date on the nomination letter/or the date nomination received per your CIS? Does your LOA say the only item pending is your nomination?
 
Has the academy reported receipt of your nomination? That tends to be an indicator of when you can reasonably expect notification of your offer. Best wishes.
 
Assuming your LOA is worded like most - you're hoping to unwrap a package in which you already know the contents:

LOA + Nom = Appointment

Navy Nomination- Appointment Offer Timeline

I was offered a letter of assurance,with only a nomination need in August,recieved my formal nomination in the mail this week,however the Navy portal shows the nomination date of December 7th. I think it posted Wednesday(14th) on the portal.

How much lag time would there be for the academy review board to review my file and offer me an appointment(BFE). Is it possible before Christmas,or are they done for the year?

Appreciate the experienced review & responses.

Here is DS's timeline

9/28/11 LOA (actual letter arrived on 10/3/11)

11/22/11 Nomination Received (letter arrived on 11/25/11. 11/23 was Thanksgiving)

11/29/11 Nomination posted on the CIS portal.

12/7/11 Phone call from Congressman to DS congratulating him on his appointment. Congressman was so nice that he made a personal call to our DS right after he got off the phone from the academy (or maybe his staff).
Although he said DS should be receiving BFE (Big Fat Envelope containing the official appointment) in a couple of days, it has not arrived here, yet. It has been 9 days since the phone call, but I think UPS's snail mail is taking longer than usual due to Christmas. BTW we live in CA.

I don't know if MOC and USNA are closed after Christmas.

So Longhorn, hope you hear from your MOC before Christmas, but even if you don't hear from them before Christmas, you will hear from them at the beginning of January, I think.
 
Offer of appointment letter dated Dec 13, arrived in CA on Dec 17!

Yes, Received big fat envelope arrived over the weekend for our DS.

It is going to be a very Merry Christmas.
 
'Tis the Season! :smile: Especially for those 3Qed and managing a nomination from the early-bird MOCs and other sources. Congrats! Not many better Xmas gifts!
