Hang in there bud, you're not alone. Focus on those who love and support you and finishing out your senior year strong.

VA-04. TWE
Finally my DS got the dreaded TWE (email) at 10 am this morning after being CPR since November 2017. His BGO called him last week to say he was still competitive and still in the running so he had a little hope. He actually took it very well and said he was disappointed but relieved to know one way or the other and he has an NROTC scholarship at VMI for Mech. Engineering so he said he is excited about that and said he is still going to re-apply to USNA! Good luck to everyone!

So I just spoke to our district representative's staff member who handle DS nomination and learn the following :

Representative's option for principal (representative's ranking 1-10) or competitive (representative allowing usna to rank 1-10).

CA-51: Competitive
Nominations Submitted: 10
As of this moment.....
3Q Candidates w/TWE: 2
NAPS Accepted: 2
NAPS Declined: 1 (Accepted USMA Appointment)
NAPS c/o 2018 in CPR: 1
Rejected 3Q in CPR: 4

DS is 3Q rejected (non-competitive SAT/ACT Scores)
Still in CPR based on high GPA, CFA, Athletics, etc.
Could be considered for NAPS if space is available.

Staff member checks daily with USNA admissions.
Keeping our fingers crossed for NAPS offer.

Best wishes to everyone....

SDSU—I cant tell what you mean, is DS still CPR tonite (4/6)? We are still CPR here in CA47 as of 2100, no email, no nothing.

His BGO called him last week to say he was still competitive and still in the running so he had a little hope.

The fact is that everyone who was CPR and had not received a TWE was in this position. As a general rule, BGOs know nothing more than the candidate re admissions status. IOW, what the (well-intentioned) BGO said was accurate but it also may have provided false hope.

When my candidates asked in the past week or so, I told them I had no more information as to their status than they did (true). That USNA will notify everyone by April 15 and, until they receive a TWE/WL, there is still a possibility of an appointment. That said, at this point, there will be far more TWEs than appointments. That USNA was finalizing the WL. And, that, if they receive a TWE and still want USNA, they should strongly consider reapplying.

For anyone still waiting, the above applies.

Thank you for your insight. We can't believe what happened the day after DS was turned down by USNA on Friday... He checked his portal for the USAFA on Saturday morning and it said "appointee"!!! We were all shocked. We had already sent in the deposit for his NROTC 4-year scholarship school on Friday. DS is very happy. Air Force Academy was his 2nd choice. He accepted this morning so life is good. He was a bit disappointed as his Dad went to USNA and he always wanted to go there but he wants to fly and take aerospace engineering classes so he will thrive there. So I guess we should all just hang in there cause you never know what's going to happen.

That is great news- so encouraging!! Did he receive an email from USAFA indicating there was a change in status or did he just happen to check? Thank you for sharing!

Yes it was quite a blessing... we feel very lucky. What happened was that the portal for USAFA had been down a few days so on Saturday (yesterday) I mentioned to my DS that he should take a look at it. He did and came downstairs with a shocked, grinning look on his face. It said "appointee" where candidate uses to be. I squeeled and then mayhem ensued. There was no email and its Sunday now, and as far as I know, there still is no email. Weird.

@VaNavyMom. Congratulations on the USAFA appointment!! Very very exciting. My DD is finishing up her Junior year in Astronautical Engineering. She absolutly LOVES it at USAFA. We are from WI - and have gone to every parents week to date. What an amazing place to camp, hike, water raft all within minutes of Colorado Springs. Cant even believe we are starting the planning phase for her graduation.

80 days to USNA I-day for DS. Going to be a fun ride to see how the two academies compare to each other. I have been researching - contrasting and comparing the different SA’s for years as USNA was my DS’s first and only choice. All I can say is win win win all around!

Oh, and both kids were re-applicants after original TWE out of HS. Hang in there my TWE friends!!!! Adjust the course a bit - and GO HARD at it starting today.

@ussaX2, Love this [emoji115]!! DS will join yours in *79* days...not that I’m counting or anything [emoji51]!
