Got my rejection too via email
Got my regret reject email around 3:43pm and my last name starts with PYou live close to us. Have you heard yet?
Sorry to hear your disappointing news. I still remember what my son said when he didn't get in the first time: "Mom, I'm just not ready yet. Next year I'll be ready." Good luck in your first year of college and I hope you apply again. Follow your dream.Got my rejection too via email
MTNFOX I just sent you a private message.Texas A&M is the best in the U.S. for your non-service academy "second choice." If you have ANY questions regarding the Corps of Cadets, which I assume your son will join, please reach out to me. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. I can also put your son in touch with my son who is finishing up his fish year in the Corps in 5 weeks, then on to the Academy. Also, the Aggie Network is extremely strong and supportive. You will have tons of families assisting you. Please give your son a thumbs up and "Gig 'Em" from our family - he'll do great at Texas A&M and he'll be well prepared for his second application to the Academy.
Our last name begins with "B"I was thinking Last names not states!
Sorry Smalltowngirl - DS also received TWE today as a reapplicant. He has been at Embry-Riddle AZ this freshman year and would be willing to connect if you like - just send a PM. I will say we have been very impressed with ERAU and their AFROTC program. Our name starts w S.
Is anyone's back up Embry-Riddle in AZ? My DD would like to connect if so.
She did get notified that she was also accepted into their Space Physics major so now she needs to decide between that or the forensic bio.
USAFA expects a certain percentage to decline their appointment. They offer more appointments than there are slots for the incoming class. Hence, what you may have seen on here that someone who declines their appointment did NOT take the place away from someone who wanted it. Unfortunately, every year there are more qualified candidates than there are slots available.Email rejection late in the afternoon yesterday. The letter says they do not keep a wait list...how does it work then, if people decline appointment?
So more or less they keep a "low key wait list?" Plan B is almost all set and I'm just hoping for a godsend with USAFA.USAFA expects a certain percentage to decline their appointment. You are all very qualified and I am sure will do well wherever you go. Reapplying is certainly an option, spend the year in school, active in sports, volunteer and leadership opportunities. Consider a self-prep year at one of the military prep schools like northwestern prep, etc.
Over the years there have been those who received a rejection letter but were offered a prep appointment after that or even a very late appointment, but that is extremely rare, so work on your plan B and beyond.
Thank you! He's not real excited, but I think a year in the Corps will do him a world of good and help him mature some. Plus, he's not too far away. I think he wants to reapply to USAFA and I think being in the Corps will really help him in that regard.Texas A&M is the best in the U.S. for your non-service academy "second choice."
