Once you get into the school year, do you feel like you get into a rhythm and the work load becomes a little less stressful or is that not the case?

some are but most are not yet
I actually asked my Mid about this just last night, bc he was eating out of a clamshell when we FaceTimed. I thought all were eating there. He said it is going by brigade, a different one each week. There a 6 brigades. That math means most will see king hall for a while. Unless/until things change 😞

Our DS was with the first group to eat in King Hall last week. Food was better, now he rotates back to clamshells and from what I understand his group would be scheduled to rotate back to King Hall in 5 weeks. He and roomies miss the food already.

Wow ... USNA must have increased in size 6 x ! :)

They are probably eating by Battalions. The Brigade is the entire student body, broken down into Regiments (2) , Battalions (6) , Companies (?) Used to be 36, but maybe 30 now? ), Platoons, and Squads .

Yes, 30 Companies now.

Ya, that OTHER B word. At least I didn’t say 6 Bancrofts.

Ask my kids...I never call by the correct name.

I would say if you manage your time well you will get into somewhat of a rhythm. Of course then things like punishments and other stuff can throw a wrench into that sometimes but I'd say overall most people don't have too much of a problem figuring out a routine that works for them.

Definitely. Our plebe wishes I had prepped him for stripping and waxing floors. I prepped him for cleaning and basic duties but alas my floors didn’t require old school stripping and hand waxing. Wax on. Wax off.

What are Plebe duties and how often do you get them? Do you have to clean?
You’re expected to have a perfectly clean room for your entire Plebe year, it will be inspected daily by some of your upperclass. The next three years are more relaxed but you’ll still have room inspections weekly and one “Alpha” (white glove) inspection every semester.

The standards are really supposed to be the same but in practice upperclass inspectors are more willing to fail a Plebe room for something minor like your pencils not being arranged in parallel or a spec of dust on the windowsill. It’s part of the process of making your life harder and teaching you to be methodical.

You’ll also be on duty about once a week and will sometimes need to assist with cleaning the hallways and wardroom (company lounge), and taking out recycling.
