We just enrolled at the Plan B school today. It said deposit was refundable until June 12th. I wanted my son to secure a housing spot and could not wait any longer. Especially if it just for them to say no to the academy. For the most part, I need to commit to college by May 1st. Assuming several appointments may go out after that deadline, how does that work if at that point I am enrolled in a different college? Would I just cancel and pick up USAFA at that point?
My son did the same thing. Move forward with Plan B until we get word from USAFA. Better to be safe than sorry. We just enrolled at the Plan B school today. Agreed! Moving forward with plan B for our son too. Main thing is....we have a plan!!!!!We have paid deposits and housing for plan B. We’re moving forward assuming USAFA will not be coming through since it has not yet. If it does…we will adjust accordingly.
I think Decision Day is May 1st which aligns with College Decision Day, which falls on May 1 each year. I had May 1st date to Accept/Decline. This was on the website:When is Decision Day for USAFA? Should one assume if you have heard nothing by then that it’s a rejection? Does USAFA have a hard date for all this?
This is exactly our plan! For what it’s worth, DD was not expecting to get a waiver, and we subsequently moved forward with Plan B. Paid the enrollment deposit, registered for housing, etc. now that she has a waiver and is in the process of wrapping her head around what’s the best move for her at this point, if she chooses the academy, we will tell her that’s it and to stick with it and, unbeknownst to her, will not cancel her enrollment until August. Maybe she gets into Basic and realizes this isn’t for her, or maybe she gets injured… either way, won’t let her know because don’t want her to have that in back of mind while dealing with the pressures of adjusting over the summer.
