USNA doesn't publish minimums, so we can only make educated guesses. Your mile and push ups are very good. Situps are low (especially for a female b/c females typically do very well on this event) and the flexed arm hang is not great at all. Just being honest. The hang is what worries me, even though it's not one of the elements USNA really focuses on and isn't part of the PRT mids take at USNA.

I assume your scores are recent. If so, it's a shame you didn't take/retake sooner. Situps and the flexed arm hang are (trust me) the easiest elements to improve upon in the shortest period of time.

I suggest that, once the scores are submitted, you contact your RD and ask whether you passed. Your BGO will also know but his/her information may not be up-to-date (depends on when USNA submits the update) -- your RD will know right away.

Practice. Practice. Practice. Hire a coach if you need. The arm hang is way too low. Most kids at SS did more than 15 sec, Daughter did 5 pull-ups. Thought she did great until another girl did 8! Sit-ups also too low. Should be closer to the max. All you need to do is practice. There is a sticky and many others who have written about how to max out the CFA. Remember athletics is a big part of the Academy. Best of luck to you.

The CFA is due 31 January, so current applicants are really out of time.

are you able to find out if that passes from your BGO?

On my daughters first CFA taken at NASS, she only did 4 secs on flexed arm hang (arms were exhausted after trying to do pull ups), and still had a passing CFA score. She wasn't happy with results so she retook it and ended up doing 2 pullups and improving across the board. My point is, OP did well on the run which is weighted high on USNA's scoring, flexed arm hang apparently isn't weighted so high, so the run may be enough to compensate for flexed arm hang. Best bet is to contact your RD ASAP and find out if you passed. If not, retake by Saturday, and really try to improve flexed arm hang, sit ups and push ups and maintain or improve the already great run score.

You actually make a good point for females. If you "know" you can't do one pull-up, don't keep struggling b/c you'll only tire yourself out. If you think based on practice you have a shot, then try once. But then move on to the flexed arm hang. If at NASS they encourage you to keep trying for a pull-up, and you end up not liking your score, then retake the test and do it "your way" if that will maximize your score.

Thank you very much for all of your inputs! I really appreciate them!

As a male I have the same question. I know it is far to late to change anything now, however in an attempt to kill the wait time I am still trying to see what my odds are.

Scores:

BB throw - 92 ft
Pull-ups - 10
Shuttle - 9.1
Sit-Ups - 67
Push Ups - 47
Mile - 7:19

I had waited until the last possible moment to take it working on improving my scores and then three weeks before the deadline I sprained my wrist and ankle in a rugby game and was just barely regaining movement when the time to take the test came. It was the worst possible circumstances, but it's what it was.

Hey OP my stats are extremely similar to yours except my run was slower but I maxed push-ups. I passed so I don't think you'll have a problem!

When DD took the CFA, she was still in phys. therapy from knee surgery. Her mile was 8mins. She made a notation that she wasn't able to run for close to a year and stamina suffered. She got an LOA by October. -- I will note that she maxed on almost everything else.

So, what I'm trying to say is, if you are injured when you take this test, make sure to let them know!

my DD was a college reapplicant. she improved to 1 pull up which was huge. 1 mile run 7:30. BB throw 47 feet. shuttle push ups and situps ? the biggest thing she was excited about was the pull up. She got notified of her appointment 2 Feb 15.
