DODMERB question

This is the applicable standards that DoDMERB would apply. If DQd, it may be considered for a medical waiver:

" 5.21. SKIN AND SOFT TISSUE CONDITIONS.
a. Applicants under treatment with systemic retinoids, including, but not limited to isotretinoin (e.g. Accutane®), do not meet the standard until 4 weeks after completing therapy.
b. Severe nodulocystic acne, on or off antibiotics. " :wiggle:

Hello, I am trying to figure this chat forum out. I cannot tell if this response was to my question or another thread. My daughter finished Accutane in 2018 - will she be needing documentation ? We noted it on her form - but because she does not have any acne it did not come up at the appointment.

My answer above was to Hopeful2025 who asked a question earlier in the day.

I don't see, until just now, that you asked a question. The answer to your (MKHB) questions is:

1. You, the parent, need to Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process" on the home page;" read paragraph 4.
2. When your daughter's case is reviewed, she will be asked to complete this: https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil/Docs/Acne.pdf :wiggle:

Parent...it’s all new for everyone applying for the first time. It’s easier than it seems Just follow instructions! There is very little left to the imagination, or interpretation, of applicants. The SA’s have been at this a very long time , and are pretty good at it. When in doubt, or confused, re-read the instructions and follow them to a T.

And the person following thoseshould be the applicant, not the parent. That is important because the application is also a part of the process; organization. Attention to detail. Did I mention organization and attention to detail? Seriously, take a back seat, advisory role only. Not saying you aren’t, but it’s an important point.

There are kids every year who have no clue what they have gotten themselves into, bc their parents did most of the work. This application process is a “practice run” at the kind of candidate that will ultimately succeed at a SA. It does take a certain skillset!!

Good luck!!

I definitely agree - thank you. When the DODMERB came up she had questions and so did I. This forum has been very helpful !
