Regardless of whether or not they test for it, there will be a time when they asked whether or not you have tried drugs,at least that's my understanding, so it's going to come out.

That is correct. And if it doesn't come out then, there is always the possibility of it being discovered when higher and higher level of security clearances are processed later in your career. Friends and acquaintances from various periods of your life will be interviewed.... and no one does drugs alone.
