Early Action

First off, congrats!!

Did he have the “Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board Review Complete” box checked before he got the call? I was just trying to figure out if that would update by the time you get a call or not.
Thanks - I don't think so. I don't have access to the portal, but we looked at it last night and the CCEBRC box was NOT checked. I can't wait to talk to him after school but I know he has some dang "Holiday Show" rehearsal right after school until like 6:30...(why today, of all days???).

Yay! @TexasAggie204 - that is so awesome!!!!!!! A huge congrats!!! You should be the first one to start the response thread!
Nope: From my military training...never be the first in any line :)

Also, for those parents and kids (yep, they still are kids) who are waiting for the news, I want to share one thing about all this.

My kid is NOT a superstar. He's just a very humble 17-year old boy who tries his best at most things he does (most of the time). He's not a recruited athlete (though he is athletic and participates in sports in HS). He hasn't made straight A's in HS. He did very well on the SAT, and just okay on the ACT. He really wants to go to a SA, but he doesn't live and breathe it; I would say he has a healthy desire to serve his country. He's got a lot of interests outside of this whole process (thank goodness), and could probably pursue a number of careers that he would most likely be successful at, because he knows how to apply himself. The one thing that really defines him more than anything is that he always roots for the underdog. He told us that the thing he liked best about AIM was talking to and helping some of the kids who were struggling with it all. As parents, we felt good about that. He's definitely got his flaws, but my wife and I are 100% certain that he would be the kind of servant leader that you should be to have success in today's military. The reason I share this is sometimes I read some of these stats and other comments posted on this forum and I honestly wonder who these "perfect" kids are...? And more importantly how are they going to lead and interact with their very "imperfect" peers and subordinates in their careers as officers.

My "imperfect" kid just got a great opportunity today...I hope all of your likely "imperfect" kids do the same!

Thanks - Mechanical Engineering

I love this post so very much! I'm so excited for your future cadet!

Yes (of course, ha!)...he has been accepted to A&M - College of Engineering at College Station.
Mine also to College Station, academic admit. Crossing fingers for USCGA.
Superb post about how perfection isn't necessary in this process.

This should be "Pinned" to the top of the Forum. Every parent and every prospective cadet should see it every time they log on in an effort to keep things in proper perspective! Beautifully stated. Congratulations to your son and to you!

Does this mean engineering majors will also be denied (if not accepted) before everyone else, or not necessarily?
Read back through prior year threads, but historically, I believe all rejections come at the end of the EA cycle. This year, applications can also be held over to the RA cycle.

Have any appointments been posted online yet or just through email / phone? I am considering contacting my AO.

Also, when did you apply for those who have received appointments?

I am a cyber systems major with an ACT score 33 and PFT score 240, several leadership positions including Cadet Commander of my CAP squadron. I applied the end of September and interviewed early October. Getting nervous that I haven't heard anything back yet!
