Engineering/ extending scholarship

Thanks Cajun. Is he AROTC? This seems to contradict what it says in the link that AROTC parent sent...

It doesn't contradict. If the battalion does not amend the contract, then the commitment remains unchanged.

This appears to vary by battalion.

Ahhh. Got it. Thanks for the clarification. So he should ask his cadre when he gets to school as to how they handle it then I guess? He needs to understand that before he lays out his academic plan for how long he expects to take to complete his degree

He'll be completing such a plan each semester while in college and reviewing it with the cadre. That's the perfect time to have the conversation.

Is this something done up front or can it be extended during school? Would it apply to summer classes vs delayed graduation?

DS requested, and was approved for, anextention to 4.5 years on his AFROTC at the end of his first year. As an ECE major, he is very happy he did it.

DS is a super senior. He received the national 4 yr scholarship. However, since his degree program was mechanical engineering, his battalion extended it to a 5 yr scholarship. He was told this immediately from the school HR person. So we knew in advance that he was covered. This is a battalion decision.

And NO!! This does not extend his commitment for taking 5 yrs for the degree program. DS will commission next May upon completion of his 5th year.
Army or Air Force ROTC?
