I messed up in English this year, and didn’t get a very good grade. I completely understand that it’s my fault. However, I have had the same English teacher for 11th and 12th grade, and now he won’t do my evaluation, because I struggled both years. I’m actually very good at English, it was mostly the structure of the class. The English department head taught me for both AP Seminar and Research (10th and 11th grade), and can better speak to my strengths. Am I allowed to have her write the evaluation? I did reach out to my mentor ALO and he said yes, but I just wanted to make sure.

I would say yes. My son only took AP Seminar and AP Capstone Research as his upper-level English courses so that is the instructor who filled out all of his recommendations.

When you say “mentor ALO,” do you mean someone speaking in an official capacity on behalf of USAFA? If so, then that should carry far more weight than us anonymous posters in an online forum. To be absolutely sure, contact USAFA admissions directly.

If your English teacher already wrote your evaluation and sent it to USAFA, you cannot change. It will be checked off on your portal. If it has not been sent you can go on your portal and change the evaluator. I suggest you check you portal.
