Thanks to everyone one the forum it’s so informative. I have a coach who said he would be more than willing to write me a letter for usna. I recently was awarded all league in the sport he coaches me in. Would it be a good idea if he sent this updated achievement and letter to my regional admissions director ?
Thank you.

Doesn’t hurt to try. The award will probably mean more than the letter. Always a good idea to update admissions on any new accomplishments.

JMPO, but more is not always better. You can work through your HS your college counselor to update your activities file at USNA, but I would only add a supplemental LoR if it adds a dimension to your file that is not already well covered by your application or other LoRs.

If you have already submitted an application for the class of 2023 then a guidance counselor would have to sign off on any updates to your activities record. Seeing as this is an award then it might be worthwhile to have this updated but a letter of recommendation this late in the game would probably not be allowed to go through. If you are applying for the class of 2024 then it is different.

There is a deadline of Jan 31. To my knowldege, USNA does not accept submissions from candidates after that deadline unless it is something they request. If they allowed everyone to continue to submit things, the deadline would be meaningless. Agree that it’s a different story if the OP is applying next year, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
