My admissions counselor emailed me requesting that my Fall grades official transcript be mailed to USNA once it is released in January and said the admissions board is requesting it. Is this a normal request? My application has been complete since the first of November and everything is complete and I received a Nomination back in October from my MOC. I know it is still early in the process, but hoping to find something out before April.

Great question. I honestly do not have a definitive answer, but by the way you are saying it, it sounds like that is a good thing. I had a friend from my summer seminar squad have his 7th semester transcripts requested as well. Sounds like a good sign.

Yes. This is a fairly common request.

They want to see if you remained consistent or improved or past grades. It's possible you are on the cusp of being admitted so they want to see where you are now. This paragraph is supposition but would seem to make sense.

Some candidates will be reached out to and asked for their 7th semester transcripts. They are only needed if asked for. There is no definitive answer about why some asked for and others not, but some thoughts: could be you are taking a critical class Calc/Chem/physics that they want to see progress. Maybe your math ACT is a little low and they want to see how you are doing in Calc. There are a million reasons. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Is this a normal request?

> I would say its not entirely normal, or particularly abnormal. Every year, many get the request. What it means is there is something in your Academic history that raised a question, and Admission wants to take a closer look. Nothing to worry about if you grades are good this semester.

I have all A’s this semester, my only concern is my High School didn’t offer Trig this semester so I had to take it at our local state college with an extremely hard teacher and finished her class with a C. I am taking Pre-Calc next semester at the college as well because my High School isn’t offering it either second semester with a professor I have heard much better things about.

I’ve also been contacted by USNA requesting my fall semester transcript. My application was completed around the same time and I have two nominations. I’m not entirely sure why they want it, but I wouldn’t worry too much. It’s understandable that they want to see those grades. My assumption is that they want to see how you’re doing academically, if there has been improvement, etc. But again I wouldn’t worry too much, it seems kind of common

what is the highest level of math that your high school offers? id be surprised if the USNA advised high school applicants to take classes from a different school/college

I also applied to the USAFA and they require Pre-Calc at a minimum and my H.S.only offered Trig and Pre-Calc out of order this year (Pre-Calc 1st semester and Trig 2nd semester) so my only option was taking Trig this semester and Pre-Calc off campus next semester too. I hear the Pre-Calc professor is much better than the Trig professor I had 😊My BGO told be I really needed Pre-Calc at a minimum to be ready if I got accepted. Unfortunately, I had to take a professor everyone has struggled with because her class was the only one that also worked with my H.S. schedule.
