Does anyone know if a shaved head is actually out of regulations of not for females?
I've tried to avoid weighing into the female haircut thread, as it is something I know little about (although I do have two (now grown) daughters, and know what a hassle long hair can be). I 'm also not funny enough to come up with some clover bee pun.
That said, I would caution against using this Forum for advice on complying with any Naval Regulation. Perhaps some, like current Midshipmen, could weigh in on the actual wording of the regulations, but words are subject to interpretation. I thought I saw someone state that regs prohibited "extreme" hairstyles, or something to that effect. What may be extreme to one may be not be to another.
There were female plebes last year who went very short
Also, don't get caught up in the concept that if one person got away from it, its okay for others.
Plebe summer is not the time to assert your individuality. Yes, the Detailers will find a way to get to everyone, no matter how squared away you are. If I were advising a Candidate entering Plebe summer, I would tell them to blend in at first, test the waters, then after you have established your reputation, then get the extreme haircut. (As an added benefit, I've heard good things about the female hair dressers at USNA here, and I suspect that they will refuse to buzz it if against regulations or talk you out of it if its just a bad idea).
