What should I wear to a FFR interview if its at a local coffee shop? And in a similar light, what should I wear to a PMS interview for the ROTC application?
Thanks!

It’s fine to wear neat and tidy pants (not jeans) and dress shirt (or polo shirt). Also clean shoes (not sneakers) and dark socks. (I’m assuming that you’re male, by the way.) A blazer is a nice addition, but not necessary. Absolutely no hat! And did I mention neat and tidy? Add pressed to that also. Top it off with eye contact and a firm handshake. First impressions are everything.

No heavy fragrance for men or women. Don’t Axe your interview.

Well-cut, groomed and unfussy hair. Shined (doesn’t have to be military spitshine), clean and not shabby shoes. No dangly, jangly jewelry. Clean and groomed nails. Practice your professional handshake (if you’re doing those), get feedback to ensure you’re not either a bone-crusher or a limp fish.

Also, freshly brushed teeth, no gum. Take a copy of your resume if you have one. Be prepared to ask questions of your own. Be confident without being arrogant.
Let us know how it goes!

Should I be clean shaven?
Have you ever seen a commissioned officer in uniform sporting a beard or other facial scruff (other than Special Ops, of which there are very few)? Dress — and look — like the community you’re trying to join.

I sat on the interview panel a few weeks ago for the position of my administrator. My boss. I wore a tie and a shirt with buttons. And sleeves. I usually wear to work a t-shirt or scrub top and a pair of sweat bottoms that could pass as scrub bottoms. Or jeans. The woman on the panel wore nice business attire. One other interviewer wore shorts and a t-shirt and the other wore jeans and a Polo type shirt. Size smedium. Looked like he had just done a biceps workout.

The interviewees all wore their best interviewing clothes of course. The sharpest one and the one who will be my next boss looked like he had just stepped off the cover of GQ magazine. Young, good looking guy. He’s already firing off emails. He’ll be ok though. Once he replaces six teachers (unusual for us), figures out our space crunch problem, and learns the place runs itself and to stay out of the way.

When I went and completed my interview with my FFR, before my application was shut-down. I personally just went with the natural, clean-shave to show that I cared, I wore a dress-shirt, with a tie, black dress shoes, and dress pants. I didn't want to go over the top hence no sports-coat, etc, I just wanted to look nice, and show my FFR that I cared about this interview, and that it could mean a lot for my future.
Hence bottom line, just look well-respected, and professional, and everything else should carry itself.

Not to mention, my FFR first mention was literally my clothing, and how nicely dressed I was, so I think that made a good first-impression, before anything else.

P.S. Don't forget a nice-looking haircut, mine before the interview wasn't too long, but I decided to make it really short and just look a bit nice.
