Hi, My DD is working on the Senator application and one of them asks to select only the first choice Service Academy. My DD is applying to all of the academies so how would she get a nomination to one of the other academies?
Thanks!

I am assuming your DD is applying to all nomination sources ( Congressperson, 2XSenator, VP). So if your senator's application is only asking for 1 top choice, what about the congressperson? Can she list her top 3 choices in congressperson application?

Assuming she gets into all academies, which 1 she will choose? I think that's the one she needs to put on senator application. It is a difficult choice as kids change their top choice often. My DD had USNA as # 3 choice, but changed her mind by the decision time.

Yes, he has it to where she can rate it from from first choice to last. I’m just wondering how she would up her chances with three sources so she can get a nomination to at least one academy.

My advice is to always list the first choice as the first choice on the application. I've seen folks every year end up at the second or third choice because they weren't consistent on their actual first choice. Just one man's two cents.

Agree with @kinnem that candidates should be consistent with the order of their preferences, unless they’re truly ambivalent about which one they prefer (which is rarely the case). Keep in mind that quite a few nomination panel members do double and even triple duty across MOCS.

A candidate may run into a panelist in MOC 1’s interview and the same panelist in MOC 2’s interview. That panelist may ask why the candidate preferred SA Y earlier but now they prefer SA Z. How does the candidate explain that?

And what if the candidate names three top choices across three MOCs and ends up with a nom for #3. Are they truly OK with that or will they second-guess what might have been? Again, better to be consistent than to try to game the system.
