You would think this video would be a morale boost for the Regiment. Too bad all we've been hearing from our teachers is how this video is the reason we fall asleep in class, how we'll all make awful officers, and how it proves this school is a joke. Figures.
DPer:
They have to say something - I mean they are they are all pretty much rated as "terrible" teachers by most measures with some notable exceptions - Capt. Hard, Cdr. Gardner, Capt. Huber, Capt. Hagedorn and Cdr. Muccin - from what I understand many others on the current faculty basically seem to prefer to put all the onus on their students and also appear to take joy fueling their egos by lambasting you all - particular mention here to Prof. Cohn.
The video is awesome, it shows creativity and imagination. I'll bet the reasons you fall asleep in class are the same today as they were we my class was going through KP 30+ years ago. And that was before Al Gore invented the internet, let alone before Marc Andreessen wrote Mosaic and introduced HTML to the masses or we had any technology that let streaming video come across the World Wide Web.
As far as leadership goes and wether you all will or won't be good leaders, bottom line is some of you will and some of you won't. Those that can - do; those that can't do other things (like teach). I know if my company sent me to the USMMA to interview for any sort of managerial development positions or high potential candidates, I'd absolutely want to interview the mids who put this video together, first. It demonstrates energy, creativity and innovation AND it's done in a high quality, professional fashion. BTW the same goes for the guys who put the USMA and USNA versions - I'd be very interested to talk to them as well - for the same reasons.
Just one alumnus' view, but one who has as part of his career interviewed and hired new college grads in satisfaction of my professional duties and responsibilities.
That is all, carry on - SEATS!
