Getting in is the esay part.

Something about all of this doesn't sound right.
Is it possible SEEBEE is also Aquarain?
They both post about similar negative experiences while at the Academy and both OP's seem intent on shedding light on the ugly side of life at the Academy. I don't know, but I sense they are one and the same. Aquarain did revel in her creative writing abilities. Just saying.

I'm not Aquarain. I would question why you or others don't speak out about issues that should be addressed?

SEABEE, a handful of alumni haven't seen the situation you have described. Might it happen? Possibly, but you are talking about the extremely small exception and NOT the norm. Rhetorically, I'd be interested in hearing a specific instance where this did happen vs. a generalization -- especially what actions everyone took or didn't take -- because right now, assuming there was an instance, no one has first-hand knowledge of EXACTLY what happened (hearsay).

I believe it would be inappropriate for me to identify specific individuals or specific incidents here in this forum. Respectfully, you show know that.

This is an online forum and you are welcome to share whatever factual information you might have. Apparently your 'opinions' don't match the actual experiences of most of us here with direct/current knowledge of the academy.

If you are trying to drum up support of your opinions based on some small sample size (or the experience of 1 person), I don't think you will find many supporters here.

But is it safe to say they involve friends or family members of yours?

Well said, ahs67. Looking at SEEBEE's November posts, there does seem to be a similarity to Aquarain's situation and posts.

I don't know Aquarain. Perhaps Aquarain isn't one of those who wish to sweep things under the rug by remaining quite. One thing is certain, as soon as someone speaks out about how things really are they become a target.

I think you need to educate yourself on what "police powers" actually are.

Thanks Line. In addition to my service in the NAVY I was also 95B in the U.S. Army. That's Military Police. Additionally, my father was Chief of Police in a Major U.S. City. I think I know a little about real police powers.

Then you should probably use it correctly, because you aren't here.

Thanks time2. I'm not trying to drum up support for my opinions. As I indicated, anyone who is considering an appointment at USNA should be aware how things really are. That includes the negative. It just isn't spoken about much here. As I have previously said, everyone should watch their six.

And I think what I'm seeing here is, everyone with actual experience, is saying your claims are overstated, and appear to be based in an agenda.

The only agenda I have is the truth. In contrast to sugar coating things such as "everyone" you are speaking of.

Ah, then you may want to actually approach the truth, because I have yet to see this.

So maybe, to clear up my confusion. Where, in your experience, have to seen what you're stating?

You can feel free to remove identifiable details.

The most important question you need to answer.... has any of this touched someone close to you?

And if it has, how?

That's really all I want to know.

Oh, now it's becoming clear. Your son or daughter is "voluntarily" resigning, or has resigned, and you believe he or she was targeted. Is that correct?

Folks, I don't know about you but I think it's time to lock and close this thread. SEEBEE is entitled to his opinions but he doesn't seem to want to back them up with facts and just wants to state generalities. No institution is perfect and USNA is no exception; BUT it seems to me that there is too much drum beating going on.
SEEBEE: OK - everyone needs to keep their eyes open as they would attending any institution of higher learning. 'Nuf said!

Why so vague now, SEABEE? I do recall seeing posts you originated back in November referring to someone being raped and then being targeted for reporting it. And I believe you also expressed concern about the abundance of unreported drug and alcohol abuse at the Academy?

Those are quite serious matters and I feel terrible for anyone who has been forced to endure such atrocities. Is this what you are referring to in this most recent series of posts?

Typical, anything negative posted is locked away. You don't really wish to identify individuals and all the fact associated with them do you? Thanks for your service, however, Nuf isn't your call. I believe it to be positive for future MIDN to understand things prior to attending USNA. They apparently won't get the info from you.

Folks,

This thread is quickly deteriorating. Opinions (including from those with personal knowledge) have been aired on both sides; rehashing them for another 6 pages isn't useful. If the OP or others have additional FACTS to present to support their opinions, go ahead. Otherwise, let's move on.

Agree with bubalma.
And what hthp37 brought up is exactly what I meant when I suspected SeaBee may also be Aquarain. Whatever the case, it all rings very unfortunate and I wish you the best SeaBee. And thank you for reminding us to watch our backs or "six", as you say. Will do.

Thanks hthp37. They are some of what I was referring to, and they are well reported. However, you might not find any of those things addressed here in the forum. That is the reason I posted to assist Candidates in understanding USNA is not peaches and cream. it's hard and there are real things to watch out for and if one watches their six, keeps their nose to the grindstone they just might be successful.

Hi I'm not SEABEE for the record. I just got back from vacation. What is going on?
