Graduation Speaker

What was the protest about? 70 people got the same question wrong? Or they just re-took a single module? Re-take doesn't necessarily mean a sustained protest.
Many mids believed the plot charting portion of the test was unfair. They all failed on the same point. My DD thought it was fair but very tricky, much more difficult than they had practiced. Because so many deckies failed, they had the re-test yesterday rather than today so they could still participate in the bell ringing if they passed the second time. Not sure if the protest was actually sustained.

What chart plot/module number did they have?

It was something about the Evergreen, I heard? Anyway they worked it out, good news all around.

Did you object when his predecessor, Elaine Chao, spoke virtually at the 2020 commencement? At least soon-to-be hydrochloroquine quack Dr. Peter Navarro was there in person the year before.
Peter Navarro!?!?!?

No words.

Is there a word in English that means “arrogant idiot”?

He has a PhD in Economics from Harvard.

I honestly don’t know why you take such an aggressive stance against those you disagree with politically. This shouldn’t be the place for it.

Good luck to all graduates and families.

Tell me what he everdid in the private sector.

If you were involved in agriculture during his tenure as point man on China trade policy you would understand my visceral reaction. China cleaned our clocks in the most embarrassing and expensive way, all to the benefit of Brazilian, Argentine farmers and at the expense of the American Taxpayer. It’s not politics. It’s strictly business.

His Hydroxy drivel was simple confirmation of his general cluelessness.

There are doctors in the community, not academia nor politics, who felt hydroxychloroquine helped their COVID patients but because of people with visceral hatreds, it could never be tested properly. The history of medicine is replete with surprises. Standard doses of Prednisone were used, based on intuition, for years for acute exacerbations of MS related optic neuritis and lupus related macular edema until studies showed Prednisone actually worsens the conditions. And who would'a thunk an antimalarial would be effective against an autoimmune disease. There are antidotes, but we don't really know if it is also antiviral.

The space shuttle was sent into the sky due to political pressure despite the scientists' saying no. Science and politics do not mix.

They are interchangeable now. The first question to ask when analyzing the validity of a scientific study used to be who paid for it. Now it’s what is the author’s political persuasion.

yes, follow the money.

I'm a Republican and don't agree with Pete Buttigieg's politics but he would have been an appropriate speaker as he is Sec of Transportation which runs USMMA. If he started preaching woke stuff then that's another story. Also, the data has shown hydroxychloroquine has worked for some COVID patients, so it is a good solve for cases it could help. It amazes me that the folks who complain about hydroxy are also willing to overlook the deaths and complications from the rushed vaccines - blood clot deaths, very high cases of young men with high blood pressure and so on. None of this stuff has a history of testing to prove its effectiveness yet (from hydroxy to vaccines) so there will be risks and outliers.

I was at the graduation yesterday and I thought Secretary Buttigieg's virtual speaking event and his message was very good. Senator Mark Kelly was in person and he was amazing!

One of life's many lessons is that lies are easy to disprove, half truths are more deceptive and damaging. Many of the young who died from or with COVID were morbidly obese and were diabetic. (Locally, a man was reported by the state as a COVID death. I learned from a friend the man, positive for COVID, was killed in a motorcycle accident.) Many who suffered clots were women of child bearing age. Were they on hormones or had Factor V Leiden or factor IX deficiency. These and other questions should be considered before reaching an opinion. There is no doubt this vaccine did not undergo the testing usually required but everyone must decide if they feel this was warranted and whether or not receive the vaccine. But please don't let your visceral reaction affect your opinion. You'd be cheating yourself and your family.

I think we're saying the same thing here... :)

The module had nonsensical answers. About 5 of the questions could not be answered. Who ever generated this chart plotting module did not have it checked for errors. Apparently, Maine Marine had the same problem this year.
