Guess this place ! (Post your photos)

Okay everyone fess up.

Did you right click any of these images, google search them and then post the answer? Would this be a violation of the SAF honor code?

I did just to test the function on a few pics--and it does work.

I haven’t. If I think I have seen it or remember it, I’ll venture a guess. If I don’t recognize it or I can’t de-fuzz the memory tag, I’ll sit it out. And, all photographs posted by me have been taken by me at the site.

I know there are image recognition apps, various Google (Goggle!) abilities, and ways to get geo-locator data off a photo file, but I didn’t think that was the point of the fun here. I actually amazed myself when the Lima building photo was posted, and I looked at it, and yep, I’d been there in August 1997 and knew exactly what it was, out of all the hundreds of government buildings I have seen in the world. If you had asked me to describe the building out of the blue, I would have said “big and light-colored, on a plaza, maybe Spanish colonial style.” The brain is an amazing thing.

Clearly I wasn’t bright enough to do that because I haven’t gotten one right yet!😂

I guess I live under a rock. I didn't know this was a thing until now.
Yes, this would violate the spirit of this good-natured game. Don't do it, please!

Sure enough, Google Images came back with the last four;
St. Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall
Gunsight Lake, Glacier National Park
The Campanile at UC Berkeley
University of Michigan Law Quad Snow

Since I guessed one of those, there will be an internal investigation, I assure you.

You're correct USMC Grunt. My Granddaughter was born on a balmy -20 degree night in Carthage, NY. She is four now and I think that I just now thawed out from that night! You think that living 3 blocks away from the Shoreline of Lake Erie myself I would be immune to wind chill, but alas, the Ft Drum area has a way of taking it to another level!

A long time ago, I had a Sales Territory that ran N-S from Watertown to Binghamton ; and E-W from Albany to Rochester. Traveling up north of Syracuse in the winter was an adventure and I could tell some harrowing stories about the Tug Hill plateau area trying to cut time getting to Lowville. This was back before mobile phones. Always kept a duffle bag full of winter gear and survival items. Also used a citizen band radio to try and stay in touch with civilization.

The area is absolutely stunning during all four seasons but most people haven't experienced the kind of winters that are the norm in this part of the country!

Violators will be required to return any and all prizes awarded and as a fine, send a pound of fine quality bacon to @THParent ;)
Guilty as charged your honor.. @AROTC-dad I'll need @THParent's mailing address..😊 I will say though, all photos I posted were either taken by me, Deepdraft2 or Deepdraft3..

Bryce Canyon and Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge were unaugmented. The others I used text search criteria and then checked the image files that came up. Would have been faster to use the image search, I guess.

However, I refuse to pay any penalty, or admit any wrongdoing. The only stated rule was that if you guess correctly, you had to post the next pic.

In other words, "Heh-heh, Suckers!"

I will get this thing back on track. Not only have I been here, but back in the 80's I helped whitewash this Batman logo on what was then, a black roof. It is nice to see that they have continued the tradition, after re-roofing.

OK. Just to be clear. Is it YOUR photo (a photo you or someone in the family has actually taken) or A photo or does being there count posting a commercial photo? I could post a photo from the bottom of the Mariana Trench does that count? Hard to guess for aerials or weird angles from above or below without trying to look it up if you haven't been there.:(
