One upside to arriving with your hair already shaved.... you won't have that itchy feeling all day until you are able to shower. If this REALLY bothers you, you may consider showing up with your head already shaved. You are already going to be uncomfortable, so just something to consider ahead of time.I know that a portion of our cadet pay will go towards the haircut but if we come with our head already shaved, do they still charge? Will they still make us go get it 'cut' again? Or will we able to skip the line?

I seem to recall a Basic who showed up with very very wild hair.....I believe it was at least 6-7" long and standing on end practically. There were before and after photos but I don't know if anyone kept them (like the one about Box Boy). I also recall that wild hair guy didn't stay at USAFA but I could be wrong. My DS had not had a haircut in 3 months. His hair was the longest it had ever been (and probably ever will be) just get the haircut there
I did the same thing, grew it way out starting last summer(also helped for hockey season), just to have long hair for I-Day. Unfortunately I didn’t get in direct this year, but it’s a cool what if scenario. My DS had not had a haircut in 3 months.
