Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

This is usna.edu’s place to go for incoming plebe info - note Class of 2027 is still there. The pages will be updated over the next 2 months, but it is worth browsing through the PTR (Permit To Report), Parents Guide and all the links and menu items, to get a feel for the annual rhythm. Much of it does not change.

I always recommend applying for the tourist passport, if he doesn’t have one already. It is NOT needed for I-Day. It is a lot easier to apply now than after he is a plebe, and you can send it after Plebe Summer or hold it until he needs it. He will be ready to take advantage of international opportunities.
Interestingly, the ABS page has been updated. https://www.usna.edu/Academics/Candidate-Information/ABS.php

Has anyone gotten there login yet? I accepted my appointment over the weekend, but no login information has (as of yet) been provided...

Information about the USNA Class of 2027
Academic Background System (ABS)
The online USNA Academic Background System (ABS) for the class of 2027 will be available beginning on or about April 1st, 2023. Information about your background and prior coursework is used to place you in appropriate classes and determine your eligibility for validation exams.
To access ABS you need a computer with a current web browser and an internet connection. You must ensure cookies are enabled. You must also have an active email account to communicate with us.
First go to the website http://www.usna.edu/Academics/Candidate-Information/index.php to read general information, then follow the link to the ABS login page. You may reach this website by navigating from USNA’s website (usna.edu) ->Academics -> Candidate Information.
To sign in to ABS, your user ID is your candidate number and your password is your date of birth in MMDDYYYY format.
You do not need to finish all sections contained in ABS at once; you may return later to complete or update your entries. You should finish entering all of the ABS requested information and complete the required exams as soon as possible but certainly before Induction Day.

Yeah, doesn't work. Probably just need to wait for my PTR.

Log into ABS (within USNA's Blackboard System)

ABS for the incoming USNA Class of 2028 will open on or about 01 April 2024 and then remain open until Induction Day ("I-Day").
Note that ABS is available only to students who have been offered and have accepted an appointment to USNA's Class of 2028.

What time do they usually have to report back to the yard on Sunday on parent weekend (aug 8-11)?

What time do they usually have to report back to the yard on Sunday on parent weekend (aug 8-11)?
They have to report back to Bancroft every night at the time given by their company detailers- it varies. They will be given a time to be back on deck inside. The end of leave formations are Fri@10pm, Sat@10pm, and Sun@6pm- but they will want to be back on the Yard sooner to get through traffic, walk across the Yard, get into Bancroft, and report back. They must also stay within 35 miles of USNA during their town liberty, remain in uniform in public, and in their PT gear in their hotel/rental house.

So turns out it's pretty hard to find Mids and NAPsters! I'm with the NM Naval Academy Parents Club and we're setting up our annual send off - which means we need to know if you exist! If you live in NM, are heading to Annapolis or Newport...or if you know anyone who is, please share the following. Thank you!

Congratulations on your appointment or NAPS offer! The Naval Academy Parents Club of New Mexico would like to welcome you aboard! We would like to encourage you (and of course your parents) to send us an email at usna.nm.parents@gmail.com so we can organize our annual send off before you report and share the group's events during your time in Annapolis and Newport. We also have a website at https://myusna.com/topics/9983/home for parents.

We're excited to meet you and welcome you and your family to the club!

I have already put the cart before the horse…. Booked a nice room at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. I have a room, nomination, completed CFA and DoDMERB. DS has been awarded a 4 year NROTC SCHOLARSHIP so that hopefully indicates he’s 3Q.
All we need now is an offer of appointment!
🤣🤣🙏🇺🇸
When is parents weekend?

Aug 9-11, 2024 The first event you can watch is PEP workout at sunrise on Aug 9.
It's on my calendar. Hopefully, our DS gets his USNA appointment, and I will be ready to book travel to Annapolis for I-Day and parents' weekend⚓🇺🇸❤️

100%. USNA doesn’t release appointee names to parent clubs. We have to hunt and peck for them. BGOs are a good resource but cannot provide us info, but can share our club with the appointees. Our AZ Welcome Aboard luncheon is in June in Scottsdale.
Calling all USNA and NAPS AZ peeps!!

Now back to regularly scheduled list of appointments!
