Yes! You have to choose what is most important. AFJROTC is really important, as there are spots reserved in the academy for JROTC cadets. You could also check out Civil Air Patrol instead. Cross country is a really good sport to be in. The academy also likes multi-sport applicants, but most people can't do that.
You should aim to be in all honours classes, or at least most. If you think you can take an AP class, then do it, but you most certainly do not have to take AP. The most important thing is to get A's. No matter what class you take, you have to get A's in it. You have to try to keep your GPA as close to 4 as possible, or above. Remember that the AFA reweights/recalculates your GPA, so if you have a 3.80, it could be much lower according to the academy. Also, the academy doesn't generally add fine arts grades into your final GPA.
Academics are 50% of what they look at on your app. The other 50% are athletics and character. Be a leader. Get service hours. Do cross country. Work out 5-6 times a week.

Good luck brother,
Aim High

Hello, and welcome to the forum. I encourage you to spend some time reading the information here in the various posts and threads. A lot of what you said in this post and your other posts is inaccurate or only partially correct. There is a lot of information about the service academies that is spread anecdotally and we try to provide the most accurate information here that is available. Please reach out if you have any questions.

There are no appointments, actual places, reserved for JROTC cadets at the service academies. It is possible to get a nomination, one of the required elements for a fully qualified applicant for an apppintment, from JROTC as a source.

The first and best step for anyone interested in a service academy is to go to the official, primary source, the SA website, and read every page, menu item and link for the most accurate information. The SAs use a “whole person” approach to evaluate candidates, and how they weight or compare various elements of an application is known only to them; it is definitely not cookie-cutter.

It is a wonderful thing to wish to help and support others, but if your source is “what I’ve heard,” it may be inaccurate. Relaying important information accurately and sourced responsibly is a military officer skill, and now is a good time to habituate that.

Good luck on your journey!

How do you know what your GPA is recalculated to according to USAFA? I have a 3.85 UW and 4.45 W.
