How do I know if I passed the CFA

uh.....I'll be right back.
I would rather you be absolutely sure than receive an “uh-oh” email asking for a video re-do on that CFA element. That is also helpful to other candidates looking for guidance here.

You don’t want to be the lead lemming over the cliff.

If you’ve taken the initiative to check with USMA, thank you for that.

My son completed the CFA today and I just saw the pullup video his gym teacher filmed of him- he's facing away from the camera, his back is to the camea. Are they going to make him redo it? Has to be facing the camera the whole time? Otherwise I think it's good, no other issues, but I know from the example video they have the person facing the camera. Will he have to redo the whole CFA or just the pullups?
He will have to retake it.

Reached out again and my video was accepted. But there are many reasons why one is accepted and another isn’t, so I apologize for saying he should be fine. I was told admissions will reach out if they need a new one and in most cases, only the pull-ups would have to be redone, not the entire CFA.

Well done on obtaining official confirmation on your own video from the primary source and returning here to share, and then taking a moment to understand the responsibility that goes with offering peer advice with the best of intentions.

It is a good thing to offer support and share info from a reliable source and not anecdotal experience which may not be true for all, and another to be that lead lemming yelling “We’re good,” going over the cliff, as other lemmings cheerfully follow the lead.

Your post will help people in an accurate way. Glad your video was accepted. I have no doubt attention to detail is now further emphasized as you progress through the application process.

Do you ever find out your actual total score on the CFA, or it's just pass fail from a candidate standpoint?

I got my coach to submit my CFA scores. It says received for West Point and Naval Academy. I have not received an email saying if I passed or not. Does the green check mark just mean I passed?
I just got an official email today from my regional commander saying "CFA Qualified" on official USMA letterhead. I submitted scores in June.

I think a bunch of emails are going out confirming passed CFAs from regional commanders because I just got one today! I submitted my scores on 9/6 if that is any help.

Were the testing scores/results appearing in that email?

My son up had his CFA scores uploaded in to the portal yesterday to USAFA. It says "complete" next to status (no check marks on USAFA app), and then the note next to it says CFA scores received. Anyone know if the status updated to "pass" instead of complete, or how long USAFA usually takes to confirm?

Can you see the results of each event (CFA score), especially with the pull up record? I see the pull up record missing. It's been over a month, still the status "completed", no indication whether passed or not.

Yes we can see everything.....I am going to assume the "complete" means passing......buttttt I'd love to be sure! ha!

‘Complete’ will get changed to ‘Completed’ and nothing else further.

may I ask if you have filled out the application for this year, or how you know this? And does "complete" mean passing? And/or do you know timeline in which this typically occurs?

We are in the CO 2029 applications cycle, completed everything on the app minus the nomination. Took the CFA during SLE, had the passing result validated by West Point to USAFA. If your DS submitted his CFA scores yesterday, give it a week or two to see if ‘Complete’ has changed to ‘Completed’ for passing.

so I just confirmed it says "completed"....it showed completed right away....soooo I guess this means passing?

I love that the process is different for every service academy - for West Point, the CFA status just says "received" with the green check when the scores have been submitted. That never changes. When they have determined pass, an email gets sent, and it lists "CFA Qualified" under official correspondence with the date of the email. The email does not give any "score" - just the numbers for each event are listed (10 pullups, etc).
I am not sure about if the result is a fail, but I would guess the same email is sent (my son got a fail email after SLE).

If you want closure, your DS can reach out to his USAFA admissions counselor and find out. We’ve been communicating with several different USAFA admissions counselors and they all have been very responsive and supportive. Best of luck to your DS.
