How early/who should you ask for letters of recommendation?

Who would you guys recommend contacting to get an official answer on that then? I can definitely see that it wouldn't be fun to have an issue with that crop up last minute! My regional Rep. has been extremely spotty on the communication thus far, hence my asking if there's a better source.

Whenever I have had specific questions it never hurt to email or call your regional admissions support staff or just the admissions office in general--they have always been very helpful to me and are very approachable. Based on your profile I believe that you can find them here.

If you're thinking about doing Cross Country next fall, why not sign up for spring track and field? I believe that all of the SA's view athletic participation as important so it would not hurt to get another season in. I do not personally do the sport but I do do indoor track, and many of my distance runner friends also do Cross Country. Plus, you will have some idea what to expect in a sport if you have never competed in any in high school; it can come as a bit of a shock with the commitment. That would also solve your concern of fall being too late for SOE's.

Thanks for the advice about contacting them, I'll try contacting admissions directly, I hadn't considered that before.

As for track, also a great idea. I'd considered it in the past but dismissed it in favor of not over crowding my schedule (which is super wonky because of college classes). However, upon reflection I really am in dire need of some official athletics so it's probably a better idea to start sooner rather than later in pursuing some more. I also, just got off the phone with a friend of mine who's a big runner, and she said that the meets are only once a week (much more manageable than the daily I'd imagined); ergo, im gonna go for it! Thanks a ton for the idea!!!

Awesome. Primarily with my experiences in track (at least in indoor/winter) practices are two hours after school every day and meets are all day on Saturdays. It’s definitely one of the more manageable sports as it is what you make of it. Good luck!
