HS World Language

The case at my school is that world languages are not Honors classes and therefore are weighted lower than Honors and AP, so for me dropping a language would allow me to take higher classes that would boost my GPA
How about dual enrollment at a community college?

Well for I’ve considered, but in the end USNA won’t transfer credits, and most of the dual enrollment courses are not beneficial in content. I think AP chem and physics is much more useful especially since chem is a plebe course. I’m already maxed out on credits and don’t have time for a dual enrollment course with my ECAs.

Okay, your original post was about WL and how to squeeze it in. CC is a way to do so, and in most schools, it adds to the gpa, thus solving your other concern. Absolutely, Physics and Chem are more important, but I wouldn't think it would/should be an either/or. Are you just looking for someone to say it's okay to not continue on with WL? Sounds like you don't plan on taking it further once at USNA, and there is no requirement for the math/science majors. You might be able to call it good. However...it also says on their website that they want to see AT LEAST two years. As is said over and over again on SAF, why shoot for the minimums? https://www.usna.edu/LanguagesAndCultures/program.php I'll add that most competitive colleges want to see at least two years, some require at least 3.

Well to be honest, a good bit does come down to GPA. It’s my lowest level class and it’s also probably my worst class. I’m not the best at languages and it brings down my GPA. It would bring it down even if I got an A+. Plus the only language my CC offers to Highschoolers is elementary Japanese, while I take Italian 3.

Then maybe kids could take that extra language or an art or a shop class. Something that stretches their abilities.

In the context of maximizing a candidate's academy application resume, I can assure you that the academy would not see "an art or a shop class" as "stretching their abilities". A foreign language? Perhaps. Creating a charcoal still life or building a wooden stool? Probably not.

SAs don’t care as much about your GPA as they do about your total transcript. They examine closely to see that you took your school’s most challenging courses, especially in STEM, and excelled at them. They compare to your school profile to confirm that you pushed yourself. That’s what counts most because GPAs are not created equal.
