I-Day Parent Questions

My daughter is 68 days away from I Day. As with other P2Bs, there are many people who have had a positive impact along the way.

Do any of the forum experts have advice on a small gift to express our gratitude?

A handwritten note from your daughter is a gift of her time and her own thoughts, and a rare enough thing these days.

Simple and brilliant. That coffee cup idea is nixed. ;)
Have some fun and buy her a nice box of Crane notes or Lilly Pulitzer or Kate Spade, something classy, quality and fun to use, not a box from the drugstore with Thank You printed on the front (though that is perfectly fine). If she can say something specific about how they helped her or advised her, and how that had a positive impact on her journey, and she would pay it forward… So impactful.

DS found some blank blue and gold striped cards at Target. Sent hand written notes to those who gifted him items, and those who gifted the priceless things like support and mentorship.

I had a kid who I got into Boys State last year because I lobbied around and found an unused slot for him and his family was so thankful that they asked me where they could make a donation in my name. To full circle this, he had a (very) early LOA and appointment so he'll be joining you all at I Day.
Donations not suggested for the people who helped you though, a note would be perfect.
.
my fingers really wanted to suggest bacon but I stopped them

One advantage of being in a one congressional district state (DE) and being less than 2 hours from DC, is our Senators and Representative hold a reception for all of the state‘s appointees at the Capitol Building in mid June. The appointees are encouraged to invite teachers or other mentors to the reception. So, DD is inviting her guidance counselor, English teacher who wrote her recommendations and helped her with her essays, her Math teacher, and Dean of Students who she worked closely with for student counsel as a way of thanking them for their help.
