i feel like we are the last one Still CPR

Sure. Agree that until you hear the answer NO there is still a chance. And I also have seen that appointments can come up until April 15th by perusing the past appointment threads. But I guess what I'm wondering outloud is have you seen a qualified candidate - with completed applications, get the TWE before April 15th but this late in the game? Does that happen at this point? Or if you are qualified and they are just sorting through to see if they can slate you somewhere, then you are a "card in the pile" they keep shuffling around until April 15th?

3Q (at least probably 3Q) with nom seem to start getting TWEs about mid-March, based on previous years. Most come in early to mid-April.

Still waiting here too. Hardest part about the process is you spend so much time trying to put your best package forth and then, once submitted, you just have to put it all aside and coordinate back up plans. This is my second time applying as last year I was 3Q and made it all the way to April 15th before getting turned down 1930 (2230 Annapolis time). Had a 4.1 GPA and a 1390 SAT /31 ACT (34 Math) with various athletic/leadership positions so I was feeling good about my package. As my BGO informed me, competitiveness varies year to year/district to district. Make sure you work on solid backup plans, such as also applying for NROTC Scholarship (kicking myself in the shins I didn't) and looking at other colleges that your DD/DS would be happy at. Sometimes having another year to improve yourself serves better and helps further prepare candidates before USNA. Someone from my high school had to apply 3 times before getting accepted. Feel free to get in contact with me if you have any questions about the process as I have been through it before.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My son plans to reapply as well if he doesn’t get accepted this year. He has been accepted to some of his plan b schools (still waiting to hear from more), so academically I think he’ll be okay if he continues to work hard. My question is, how does one continues to be competitive athletically in college if he/she doesn’t play a college sport. My son played fours of football and was team captain in high school but he will not be playing football in college. How can he improve his package athletically if he was to reapply? Thank!

Intramural sports ... and working out to max the CFA would be a good start.

I would also contact the football (or other sport) coach and ask him for any type of role with the team ... assistant to the strength and conditioning coach, waterboy, whatever ... and get some fancy title to show a team/leadership role.

He is planning to come back to his high school and help out during football pre-season. And if he decides to stay locally, he should be able to be come an assistant on both the football team and baseball team. But if he goes away for college, should he then try to become involved on the college team in some way? Not sure if its a possibility for him to get on board at Clemson...but won’t hurt to try I guess.

Many colleges offer intramural/club sports that he can try to join to show his continued involvement. Additionally, CFA improvement is another area he can work on to show continued fitness.

Back in the day........I worked for the intramural and club sports department at BigStateU and helped coordinate events and was a referee for football and basketball. There are ways to get involved and take on responsibility and demonstrate leadership. You just have to go get them.

The fact that they won the championship really pushed Clemson to the front of plan B list. ‍♀️

LOL

Zion going to Duke pushed Duke up as his top plan b dream. Never applied though. :)

Has your DS considered a SA prep year at a private institution, as a Plan B? MMI, NMMI, NWP? My DS is a second year app, had a great app last year, MOC, BGO and AF liaison were all shocked he didn't get picked up. But it has been a blessing, he is currently attending a prep program and has received an appointment to USAFA and a nom and CPR from USNA. His program preps students for their CFA by having PT as a class, a 5:00am class! It initiates them into a military culture and, for my DS, affirmed that this is the path he wants to take. There are lots of opportunities for leadership and physical training. If you have any questions regarding my DS's school, just PM me, I'd be happy to answer/help!

Thanks for the suggestions. We did discuss MMI self enrollment. however he is still waiting to hear from Virginia Tech -Crops of Cedets, if accepted there, he will likely go with them as his #1 plan B. All these uncertainties are driving me nuts o_O.

Still waiting patiently. No word from USNA or NROTC. Keep the faith! It's not over until it's over, and even after that you can still try again. Best of luck to your DS!
April 30th is when he received word of a 4 year NROTC scholarship to plan B school and his application and interviews were done by that December. Hang in there. At this point DS was also waitlisted until 3rd week of May. Keep busy. Good luck.
