i feel like we are the last one Still CPR

Tick! Tock!

I offer the following sage advice offered to me many moons ago by my 99-year old Grandmother: A watched pot never boils!

We are all in good company drumming our fingers waiting to no longer be in CPR limbo on the portal!

I suggest the following songs for your ‘Waiting for The Naval Academy Portal to Change’ Playlist:

Patience by Guns N’ Roses

Waiting for the USNA Admissions Man by Velvet Underground

You Can’t Hurry the USNA Admissions Love by the Supremes and Phil Collins

Wouldn’t It Be Nice to Receive an LOA or a Nomination by the Beach Boys

Tired of Waiting for an LOA or Nomination by the Kinks

Waiting for an LOA or a Nomination Like You by Foreigner

Wait by the Beatles

Waiting on an LOA or Nomination by the Rolling Stones

Anticipation by Carly Simon

And...as referenced in other threads, The Waiting by Tom Petty

Based on what we experience last year, the offers of appointment really have not started. Things won’t get moving until mid-January and the main action is Jan31 to mid-March. Some will begin to trickle in before. It will be hard and you and your DS/DS should realistically imagine executing plan B. I think it helps cope with the uncertainty and hopefully plan B is a great option. That was our experience that I would like to share. Also, it is harder for parents than kiddos, who have all of senior year stuff happening. As a parent, you are wired to help with future plans.
For many, you will begin to seriously work to help execute plan B. Then, one morning when you are in the middle of the morning routine of chaos to get everyone off to work and school your DD/DS may come running down the stairs wearing nothing but a bath towel and a huge grin - and all of your lives will change forever. And you will hold that moment in your heart always and tear up every time you think about it. I hope and pray you all have that moment. It won’t ever happen without the waiting.

Brilliant! Loved the playlist. That could go on and on.

ets revive this thread from last year! It reminds me that we are not the first set of nervous parents/applicants, nor will we be the last! This thread was a good reminder of that, and maybe next year we can be the ones looking back on all of our anxious posts and laugh....

Folks, its way to early to even think about receiving the BFE. Sure, a few Appointments have trickled out, but Admissions really can't get serious about offering appointments until all Nominations are in, and all applications are complete. (I've seen at least one "new" applicant in the last week). It's a great idea to pass the time creating a waiting play list, but this is a Marathon, not a sprint, and your still at the 15 mile mark when it comes to waiting.

And it’s a whole OTHER kind of hard when your waiting to hear about a MidSib! Our first received his third nomination 2 years ago today, FB Memories reminded me, as well as an LOA, which became an appointment soon after Christmas. I know our MidSib is a whole different candidate, but not gonna lie, it’s harder this time around.

The KEY to surviving, is diversion, imo. Keep busy. Like you did during the 9th month of pregnancy waiting for that little bundle of joy to arrive. Declutter. Clean stuff. It will help pass time and *BONUS* you have a clean house (or insert xxx project).

I admit I read the first page of this thread and panicked when I saw the " maybe less than half the class is seated by now" - but thankfully realized that was FEBRUARY of last year and not now in December. But not sure I feel any less anxious. I have NROTC scholarship and have acceptances to my top 3 schools for that which is great- but obviously I am waiting for USNA and have been CPR since august and waiting on noms. Its hard not to feel anxious when I have teachers and my principal asking me almost daily "Have you heard anything?" I know there will be a convergence of time when I need to accept my NROTC scholarship and if/when I hear anything from USNA and reality sets in that my direction is set.
Hope you all have a good holiday.

As planners this long wait is especially tough...it would be nice to hear either way so we can map out our vacation time and expenditures, travel itineraries, ski vacations etc for 2020. Totally enjoying senior year with DS, he is getting sick of my extra tight, long hugs every day. College visits are still happening and acceptance offers have even started to roll in, it's all good!

We are in the same boat...DS is currently Class of 2022, with MidSib applying to Class of 2024. Fun times ahead!

Right there with you Hopeful Mom!!
It’s all about the 2020 calendar! ...Are we doing a graduation party right after or later in the summer? Should DS’s sister take the first or second summer classes at her university so she can be around through June? When do we plan our family vacation?
Grateful that there’s a distraction planned for mid January. DS has been invited to travel to Plan C school to interview in person for a bigger scholarship. Florida in January sounds pretty good to any Chicagolander. Still hoping to hear from NROTC for Plan B school.
Here’s to us all getting good news (wherever that may lead) in the New Year!
