I want to know who advocated for this guy's hiring

And some worry about midshipmen and cadets talking politics, religion, etc... Meanwhile, the "adults" (specifically those out of uniform) put their foot in their mouths all of the time, and do not understand that this is not the place for their political shenanigans.

No one cares if they talk politics, as long as they are on a certain side. The purging of opposing political thought should be frightening. It's the kind of thing that led to the establishment of this country.

Doesn't the US Constitution say that the Commander in Chief will be "out of uniform" adult? Civilians should respect the military, and the Military should respect civilians.

Stay off social media kids. As has been said before, on an interview, when asked "Does your social media profile accurately reflect you," it is advisable to be in a position to respond "I have no social media profile, sir."

The armed forces' job is to follow orders, not to make policy decisions. There are other professions available to the politically inclined.

P.S. - And, by the way, expressing your opinion about Richard Torres-Estrada's political views on this forum is in itself leaving a political social media trail.

Yep- it's when they start pulling stunts that counter your latter point that it becomes messy.

The downstream effect isn't from the social media posts......the slippery slop will be where your political donations went to, since all that is public information.

Reading this and I think there's my Dad coming through with solid advice again. He advised me when it was time to register to vote, to choose "no party affiliation" and to always self silence my political views, except at his, or my own kitchen table.

Okay. The guy is an idiot and whoever hired him is a bigger idiot.

Can you imagine him showing up at Ft. Bragg with his PowerPoint presentation?

...hence why SAF is designed to be anonymous. Don't leave enough crumbs to make a cake.

Not in today’s Pentagon. In fact, you get points for getting into the political arena as long as you’re promoting the latest trend. I can’t count the number of FGO’s and GO’s I’ve seen making posts on official social media accounts, clearly trying to get in line with the flavor of the week in the hopes it will somehow help their senate confirmation to the next higher grade.

Probably Sen Duckworth.
What exactly is your point about Sen. Duckworth?

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Tammy Duckworth lost both her legs while defending her country. Like it or not, that confers upon her a certain moral standing and credibility when it comes to military matters. I’m no political ally of hers, but your flippant comment begs explanation.
