Im going into PS and obviously running in preparation and am getting a lot of leg pain/soreness. So, I’m taking normal ibuprofen which does the trick so im wondering if we are issued anything like this on I-day or if its something we would have to request from our detailers. Additionally, how many of my own personal hygiene things can i bring to use during PS like skincare items, or should these be mailed to me?

Don’t bring any over the counter medicines with you on I-Day. They will be confiscated. You will be issued a few basic medicines like Tums, Advil, and cough drops. If you get really sick during Plebe summer you can go to the Brigade Medical Unit (BMU) and get additional medicine.

I didn’t bring any person hygiene stuff with me on I-Day nor did I have any mailed to me. The Academy will give you the bare essentials you need.

Agree with the above re OTC meds. As for personal hygiene products, USNA will issue you what you need. However, some folks really prefer certain brands of deodorant, shampoo, etc. or want things that USNA may not provide (i.e., styling gel/mousse for hair). I would see how PS goes in terms of how big a deal it appears to be. IOW, does the brand really matter for 6 weeks and do you even have time for styling gel/mousse?

If you really crave it, your family can mail it to you during PS. After PS, you'll have a lot more freedom and can get it for yourself.

PS 2016 females were not issued hairbrushes. Not sure about now.
