I recently accepted my appointment to the USNA after receiving a congressional and senatorial nomination. Is there any way I can identify which nomination I "fall under" as I would like to write a thank you letter to their offices?

USNA may not decide to which MOC to charge you until late in the process -- or they may have already tentatively decided but it could change. The charging process is a complex one that is only indirectly related to your appointment.

I agree that sending a thank-you to both would be an excellent move, if for no other reason that both thought highly enough of you to give you a nom. Congratulations on your appointment!

(And there is no way for you to know to whom you were charged until you're at USNA -- in our day at least, it was on some form we received at some point in the process. You can see that it wasn't a huge deal b/c I don't even recall which source it was for me.)

DS actually asked this question of his admissions counselor back in the day. She responded that he was charged to xxx, but that he should thank them both.

This is a good idea for a few reasons. One is that where you are 'charged' today, may actually not be where you end up being 'charged'. Another is that all your nominating sources may 'claim' you. IOW, My DS was 'tweeted' as a "congrats to XXX who is one of my nominees to USNA and has accepted his appointment" from the nominating source he was told by admissions he was NOT charged to.

You should, imo, write a thank you to each of them for their nomination, and let them know that you have accepted an appointment.

CONGRATS!!

That “charging” may not even be settled yet, as that dust may settle after all the moving parts stop moving, to link two clichés. You may never know, though I think there are ways to find out once you are a mid. Someone else may have better info.

If you did not write a TY note to them when you were placed on the slates, it’s not that hard to write a note that covers all the bases:
“Dear Senator Caucus, I am looking forward to joining the Naval Academy Class of 2024 this coming summer. Thank you for the confidence you placed in me when you included me on your nomination slate. I intend to work hard to succeed to repay your trust in me and represent (state) well.”
Sincerely,
Or whatever sounds like you.
